Viewers have accused the judges of ‘underscoring’ the popular Aussie star.

After breaking the internet alongside his mum on Dancing With The Stars last week, Robert Irwin has returned to the dance floor with another show-stopping performance. The 21-year-old Wildlife Warrior performed a jazz routine with his dance partner Witney Carson to the song ‘Dancing Through Life’ for Wicked Night, and received enormous praise from viewers and judges.

Robert’s dance, inspired by Jonathan Bailey’s Wicked character Fiyero, included flips, kicks and even the worm. Judge and former professional dancer Derek Hough said he was meant to be on stage and “born to be a performer”, and he ended up receiving a total score of 36.

All four judges gave Robert a 9, which is his highest score of the season and put him at the top of this week’s leaderboard.

However, many viewers took to social media to argue that he should’ve received a perfect 10 — something that no contestant had yet managed to achieve in the competition.

“Nah this DESERVED at least one 10,” one person wrote, while another added, “WHY ARE WE WITHHOLDING THE 10s?”.

“ROBBED OF A 10!” a third remarked.

“No 10? What the hell is actually going on?” someone else commented, with a different user complaining that the judges “keep underscoring Robert”.

Viewers became even more outraged when The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives’ Whitney Leavitt received three 10s for her performance of ‘Popular’ immediately after Robert’s routine.

‘We need it more than ever’

In addition to the social media praise, Robert’s performance was also celebrated by special guest judge Jon M. Chu, who directed both Wicked films.

“To see your range from last week to this week, from honesty to joy, we need it more than ever,” he said.

This week officially marks the halfway point for Dancing With The Stars, with the finale set to air on November 25.

Next week’s performance will be Halloween Night, with Robert’s routine and song choice expected to be revealed in the next few days.
