Where were we?
Oh that’s right, about to get stuck into a major body corp meeting argument that could fundamentally change the entire competition.
It’s not like we’ve been waiting with bated breath for the past 24 hours or anything.
We pick back up where we left off, with the teams just having been satisfied with Robby and Mat’s answers to the many questions about their wine cellar.
But rather than that bringing the meeting to an end, the heat immediately turns to Britt and Taz as Sonny mentions Taz claiming all the free timber (an estimated $10,000 to $15,000 worth) in the sawmill for himself.
Britt and Taz stand firm: Block rules are first in, best dressed.
But then Sonny says the word “greedy”, which really riles them up.
“GREEDY?” (Nine)
“Are you calling us greedy?” Britt asks.
“In a sense, yes,” Alicia replies.
We are all Mat right now. (Nine)
Britt fires back with a remark about how she thinks Sonny and Alicia are purposefully attempting to win the CommBank $10,000 for their budgeting rather than the overall room win each week.
But then, after winning money for staying under budget, they’ve gone back and spent thousands more on the same room meaning their space is now technically way over budget.
So far Sonny and Alicia have won five out of seven CommBank prizes which means a total of $50,000 in earnings.
“It’s a bit of a grey area,” Britt says.
Sonny and Alicia are offended about the implication that they’re “dishonest”.
They think it’s time to stop pretending they’re all happy families sitting around singing kumbaya.
That’s pretty plain to see for everyone except Han and Can, who would very much like it to be kumbaya all day every day, thank you very much.
Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya. (Nine)
The lack of kumbaya is futher evident as Alicia cries over Britt ‘ditching’ her to go shopping solo last week.
Her friends wouldn’t do that, she says.
“Your friends aren’t on The Block,” Taz replies.
“I was mortified,” Alicia reacts to cameras, saying Britt and Taz’s comments were “nasty”. “It showed me that they didn’t care so that was really hurtful.”
Meanwhile, the other teams are just watching the serves fly left and right like they’re at the Australian Open.
Jeepers! That was intense!
Afterwards, Robby and Mat check in on Alicia’s okay, which she really appreciates.
She’s disappointed that they’re the only ones to do so, as Britt and Taz get back to House 3 and vow to move on.
Along with duking it out and building two rooms, the Blockheads also have the Domain’s Buyers Jury this week.
While everyone preps for the open house, Ben gets some good news: their plans to create special spaces under House 1, the only elevated one on The Block, have been approved.
And yes, one of them is destined to be the same special feature House 5 have been working on for eight weeks. Are they worried about Robby and Mat finding out?
“No, they haven’t invented wine cellars,” Ben replies.
Cheeky. (Nine)
This week’s Move with McCafé is off-site in (freezing cold) Lake Daylesford.
It’s also a challenge, with a three-person indoor sauna worth $5,000 up for grabs for the winner of a race on pool floaties.
It is as chaotic as you’d expect:
With Emma in the lead but Sonny very close behind, Ben makes a move. A not very sportsmanship-like move.
He jumps on board Sonny’s floatie and stops him in his tracks, prompting Alicia to stage her own sabotage on Emma.
But even after a Leesh-imposed break, Em still storms to the finish line first.
A controversial win is still a win! (Nine)
Back on site, prepping for the Domain Open Homes continues.
Everyone is attempting to put their best foot forward to impress the potential buyers, but Robby and Mat know they have an Achilles’ heel:
Weeks later and it’s still just so funny. (Nine)
The best mates make a desperate phone call to the one and only Scott Cam, with a very important question.
Can they rip it out and burn it? Or at least hide it to avoid traumatising any interested buyers?
The room has already been judged, and dubbed an “upmarket nursing home” in the process, so Scotty accepts that they’ve suffered enough with that damn bedhead.
It can go.
WOOOHOOO. (Nine)
With SO much going on, we almost forgot! It’s Waterproof Wednesday.!
Sonny and Alicia are the other team on track.
Robby and Mat have no walls. Han and Can are still plastering. Emma and Ben have primer down. And Britt and Taz are trying something new, called ‘waterproof whenever’.
Naturally, everyone has all the time in the world for an important vigil at the caravan park.
“We are here to celebrate the death slash sacrifice of our children’s room challenge bedhead,” Mat says.
They lower its body into the ground, or uh, yeet it into the skip bin.
RIP. (Nine)
And then quite literally set it on fire.
WE WERE JOKING EARLIER. WE DIDN’T THINK IT WOULD COME TO THIS.
Wednesday night, it’s time to wipe off those tears. It’s Buyers Jury day!
With $50k on the line and a chance to mix and mingle with buyers, the stakes are high… and so are the stress levels. Who wins the biggest challenge of the year? We’ll see you tomorrow to find out.
