As he gears up for the finale of the current season of The Block, host Scott Cam has revealed whether the next instalment will be a celebrity edition, or whether all *those* long-running rumours are not to be trusted.

ICYMI, speculation has been running rampant off-screen that the upcoming season of the renovation show will spice things up with a cast full of notable names.
Back in August, it was reported that The Block’s producers were considering a celebrity edition with names like Married at First Sight stars Martha Kalifatidis, Michael Brunelli, Dave Hand and Al Perkins apparently being eyed for the new cast, as well as non-reality stars like Hamish Blake, Andy Lee, and Olympic legend Cathy Freeman.
The rumours hit fever pitch just this week, when an insider told PEDESTRIAN.TV that two other former MAFS contestants were also in the running to join the 2026 season of The Block, though no names were revealed at the time.
Now, Cam has called hogwash on all the rumours entirely, saying in a recent interview on Nova 100’s Jase & Lauren show that there’d be too many “egos” for a celeb edition.
And honestly, if you’ve watched MAFS, you’ll know what he’s talking about.
“That’s not happening… I would not want to do a celebrity Block. Imagine dealing with all those egos,” Cam said.
When further prodded by the hosts — who mentioned rumoured potential castmates like Bec Judd and Kylie Minogue (trading a mic for a hammer, I guess?) — Cam reiterated that a celeb edition is not on the horizon. At least, not during his time as the host.
“Well not on my watch. The next bloke might do it,” Cam said.
Elsewhere in the interview, Cam again confirmed that despite the rumours that sprung up earlier this month, famed Block auction-goer Adrian Portelli is not banned from attending this season’s finale.
“That’s number one impossible — because it’s a public auction, anyone can turn up. So we never barred him. We’d prefer him not to buy all of [the houses] … to give other people a chance to buy a family home or a tree change or something like that,” Cam said.

With all that, Cam hopefully put to bed all the off-screen chatter so Blockheads can focus fully on the imminent finale, which will see this year’s batch of contestants put down their tools for the final time and reap the rewards ($$$) of their hard-earned work.
The finale for season 21 of The Block airs this Sunday, October 26, at 7.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
