One viewer described it as his ‘worst dance this season’.

He’s been the fan favourite since episode one, but Robert Irwin has seemingly disappointed viewers with his latest routine on Dancing With The Stars. The Wildlife Warrior, 21, performed a cha-cha-cha to Shakira’s ‘Try Everything’ from the film Zootopia with his dance partner Witney Carson for Disney Night.

While he received 22 points from the judges, the same score as his previous two show-stopping performances, many fans took to social media to criticise the song choice. Harry Garside previously told Yahoo Lifestyle that contestants on the Australian version can submit several song options for the producers to ultimately decide, although it’s understood that the producers, choreographers, and contestants collaborate on the song choice for the US series.

In this case, Robert’s choice was a cross-promotion to announce his upcoming voice role in Zootopia 2 as a koala named Robert Furwin.

“At what point in the season will Robert and Witney finally get a good song so they can prove they’re real contenders for the mirrorball?” one person commented, while another added, “Give Robert better music PLEASE! That man eats but he can’t eat if you don’t give him utensils!”.

“I’m unhappy with the song choices for Robert which I think leads to questionable choreo from Witney,” a third replied, followed by someone else who said, “Definitely Robert’s worst dance this season and that makes me sad”.

“This just pissed me off. Why can Whitney [Leavitt] get the best song choices but not Robert? Like please start giving Robert good song choices,” a different user replied.

Fans will have to wait a few days until it’s revealed what Robert’s next routine will be; however, it’s already been announced that the theme for week 5 is Dedication Night.

Each couple will perform a dance to honour “the most influential figures and institutions in the celebrities’ lives”, with Robert expected to dedicate his routine to his late father, Steve Irwin.

“Robert better step it up for Dedication Night and have us all crying on the floor,” one fan wrote, with another commenting, “If Robert and Bindi dance together next week I will bawl”.

“I hope I am not the only one hoping that Robert and Witney will get a contemporary dance and dedicate the dance to either his dad or Bindi,” someone else said. “I cannot wait for next week! And Robert did say that contemporary was one of the two styles he wanted to try.”
