Nicole Kidman has made her first public appearance just days after filing for divorce from her husband of 19 years, Keith Urban. The 58-year-old appeared at a charity auction at the home of United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby, in Dallas, Texas, where she presented Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan with an award.

Nicole, who has worked with Taylor on the Paramount+ series Special Ops: Lioness, praised the writer and director in her speech. She said, “I think what Taylor recognises, as we all do, is that we are all more alike than we are different, and that we are better when we look out for each other, and that, of course, is why we’re here tonight.

“What better way to support, to elevate our common humanity than to help fund bold and innovative research.”

It comes after Keith returned to the stage for his High and Alive tour, where he continued to display a photo of Nicole and their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, during his song ‘Heart Like A Hometown’, which has been an ongoing part of the tour.

During the moment, Keith spoke about how his parents allowed him to drop out of school to pursue music full-time, before he performed the track.

Prior to the news of the split, Keith raised eyebrows by changing the lyrics of his song ‘The Fighter’, which was inspired by his relationship with Nicole, to feature instead a line about country singer Maggie Baugh, who played in his band this year.

Instead of singing the original lyric: “When they’re tryna get to you, baby, I’ll be the fighter,” he changed it to, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.”

Maggie shared the moment from September 27 on Instagram, with the caption, “Did he just say that 👀.”

Fans were quick to slam Keith on Instagram, with many commenting on Maggie’s video and calling the move “tacky”.

Page Six has reported that tensions between Keith and Nicole were evident a year ago, when she appeared in the steamy film Babygirl.

In the film, Nicole plays a CEO who puts her family and career on the line when she begins an affair with a much younger intern.

“Keith didn’t like the film and he didn’t even like Nicole promoting the movie,” an insider said.

Another insider claimed that Keith worried that his marriage would be mocked because of the film.

It comes following reports the singer was “not as supportive” of Nicole’s career as she was of is.

In the early years of the couple’s relationship, Nicole’s focus was on their children, but as they grew older, she refocused on work and “truly thrived”.

A source told People that Sunday and Faith are “very supportive” of their mum’s work, but Keith has “been the opposite”.

“Keith was used to her being supportive of his career. He’s not been as supportive as she hoped,” they added.

Keith didn’t join Nicole when she debuted Babygirl at the Venice Film Festival last year, nor did he attend the Toronto Film Festival with her.

He did, however, attend the Golden Globes in January this year, where Nicole was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for the film.

Comedian Nikki Glaser poked fun at the couple’s home life at the time, saying, “Thank you to Keith Urban for playing the guitar so much that [Nicole] wants to leave and make 18 movies a year.”

Keith also famously hung up on Mix 102.3’s radio program Hayley & Max in the Morning when he was asked about his wife’s sex scenes with Zac Efron in their Netflix film A Family Affair.

Max asked the Grammy winner, “What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV?”

Not only did Keith not reply, but a producer confirmed to the hosts that his team “disconnected from Zoom”.

“I think his team hung up on us because they didn’t want us to ask that question,” the producer said.
