Shaynna Blaze has been a fixture on Australian TV for over 17 years, hosting 13 seasons of Selling Houses Australia, becoming a judge on The Block in 2012, and appearing on reality shows such as Celebrity Apprentice and The Masked Singer. Throughout that time, she’s also been outspoken about causes close to her heart, including domestic violence and online bullying.

It’s because of this that the popular TV presenter, 62, took to Instagram on Thursday to share a powerful video speaking out about an “appalling” repercussion of her career in the spotlight. The 3-minute video begins with Shaynna thanking her followers for their “beautiful” messages of support throughout this year’s season of The Block, before taking aim at the trolls sending her “hateful comments” online.

“I’m not talking negativity, I’m talking really appalling, disgusting comments,” she said. “A few people have reached out and asked me, ‘How do I cope with this?’. It’s not about coping, it’s about how it’s addressed.

“So how I see it is that these comments are coming from somebody’s mind and heart,” she continued. “They have to see that comment before they push send. So that is coming from them, and for me, that sits on their screen; it doesn’t come back to me. So whatever these comments are, it’s not that it doesn’t affect me — I don’t take it on, and I refuse to.”

Shaynna’s message to trolls: ‘I hope you move on’

The mother-of-two went on to say that she will delete and block these comments on her Instagram, but she might not get to it immediately because she’s “living [her] best life” and not constantly using social media.

“I just wanted to let you know that I am beyond grateful for the people that follow me, that are positive, that like everything, that are enjoying what I’m doing,” she shared. “And for those that aren’t enjoying it, I hope you move on, and I hope the comments that you’re making, you’re able to reflect on how that’s affecting you, because it’s not affecting me.

“So I just wanted to let you know that this is a world where there are a lot of great people, and unfortunately, the minority is slipping through, making it look like the majority. Not on this platform.”

Shaynna’s followers send messages of support

Shaynna’s post has quickly racked up over 100,000 views across Instagram and TikTok, with her followers sending messages of support in the comments.

“Keep living your best life Shaynna, you are a positive inspiration to so many,” one person wrote, while another added, “Well said Shaynna. You’re such a talented, gorgeous and smart woman. You’ve got it all!”.

“Perhaps we should start a movement where we flood feeds with positivity to drown out the negativity?” someone else shared, to which Shaynna replied, “I’m with you on that one! Stay tuned, I have some ideas coming”.

The Block host’s urgent plea to fans

The Block’s co-host Shelley Craft has previously urged fans to stop sending hate to any of the show’s stars on social media, telling Yahoo Lifestyle that she wishes people would be nicer.

“I think we have to be a lot gentler on them as an audience for what they’re going through because they’re providing you entertainment,” she said. “From that mental health side of it, just be kind. These people are giving you some viewing pleasure, be a little bit more kind on the other end of the line, please.”
