Ahead of The Block finale next week, the 2025 cast reunited at the Nine Upfront event in Sydney on Wednesday to celebrate the network. The event marked the first time all 10 contestants had spent time together since the show premiered in August, and it was clear to see that they’re not as close as they once were.
A group photo shared by a handful of contestants on social media shows former besties Taz and Sonny looking rather awkward standing next to one another at the centre. While their co-stars are standing close together with their arms around one another, Taz’s hand is in his pocket, and Sonny’s is hanging by his side.
Taz also shared a gallery of snaps with his co-stars at the event alongside the caption, “Celebrating Nine with an elite crew”, with Sonny and Alicia noticeably absent.
One attendee tells Yahoo Lifestyle that it was clear to see the former BFFs haven’t managed to repair their relationship after falling out on the show, and they spent the majority of the evening apart.
“Britt and Taz and Sonny and Alicia barely spent any time together at the event, so it will be interesting to see what their relationship is like at the auctions,” they said.
Yahoo Lifestyle has also done some digging and discovered that Britt and Taz and Sonny and Alicia no longer follow one another on their personal Instagram accounts.

Britt and Taz speak out about friendship with Sonny and Alicia
This comes after Britt and Taz spoke with Yahoo Lifestyle about their current relationship with Sonny and Alicia, and made it clear that they haven’t rekindled their friendship post-show.
“I think we’re all civil,” Britt said. “We’re all adults at the end of the day, and we all understand we’re representing Channel 9 and we’re representing The Block.
“It’s not like previous years, where people couldn’t be in the same room. It’s not like that. This year’s a little bit different in that sense. We’re all civil.”
‘Difficult to go back to how it was’
Taz added that it’s “difficult to go back to how it was” after seeing Sonny and Alicia talk about them on the show.
“You’re hearing people talk about you behind your back, but stuff they alleged, ‘We’d say to your face’ was never said to our face,” he shared.
“The time for forgiveness and everything like that was there, but they just hold on to things, so we can’t really just keep going the way we were going.”
This season’s auctions will take place on Saturday, October 25, and air the following night on Channel 9, with the winning team taking home $100,000 on top of their profit from their sale.
