EXCLUSIVE: Robby and Mat were The Block Auction favourites so there was no hiding the duo were devastated to walk away with a modest prize of $109,000.

Moments after Danny Wallis purchased their home for $3,099,000, Robby and Mat spoke exclusively to 9Entertainment about how they were feeling post Auction.

“It’s not a great outcome but…it is what it is,” Mat said sombrely.

“It sucks you know. It’s a lot of hard work that we put in but it’s a beautiful house and I’m sure Danny and all his guests are going to enjoy it a lot,” Robby added.

They admitted the “hardest thing” was that they have to split the $109,000 meaning they take home $54,500 each.

The boys were clearly disappointed as they returned to their co-stars after their auction.

Robby wordlessly walked in, wiping tears from his eyes as he entered the room. The group clapped but Mat firmly said: “I would rather no one clap.”

While Mat remained grateful for the experience and the money they did win, he acknowledged their prize money didn’t cover the cost of being away from his hairdressing business.

“It’s not about the money but it’s about the money. Just to cover my costs for not being in the business or the work that I said no to, it wouldn’t even cover that,” he said candidly.

Robby was feeling emotional about the time away from his partner Alyssa and his baby boy Brooks.

“It does suck not bringing it back for the family. We sacrificed so much and especially Alyssa as a new mum, she’s the real hero,” he said tearfully.

“Walking away with my tail between my legs isn’t a good feeling.”

Mat reminded Robby that wasn’t the case. “They just didn’t spend the money that we had hoped,” Mat intercepted.

Robby and Mat remained true to their spirited selves and found the silver lining saying they “had the best time [they’ve] ever had in [their] lives.”

“Money can’t buy the experience we had, mate,” Robby declared.

Mat continued: “We did building, drilling, screwing, laughing, crying, we created the worst bedhead on the planet, we set her on fire, we had a funeral, we had a wedding…

“And we met some beautiful best mates for a long time.”

The best mates remained positive about what the future holds for them.

“Who knows what’s going to happen next,” Robby remained hopeful.

“This isn’t the end of us….watch out Australia,” Mat signed off.
