Robert Irwin has taken to social media to share an emotional update with fans after revealing his beloved “little bestie” had been battling cancer.

Robert Irwin has shared the news every pet owner hopes for- his beloved dog Stella is cancer-free.

The 21-year-old Wildlife Warrior, who is currently based in Los Angeles while competing on the American version of Dancing With The Stars, took to Instagram on Saturday to share the update.

“I wanted to give a health update on our sweet Stella! I am really happy to say that her results came back and it looks like her operation was successful and her cancer was completely removed,” he wrote alongside several photos of his sweet pug.

“I’m SO relieved and happy that she is doing well. Thank you for all of your kind messages and well wishes for her.”

Fans and celebrity friends flooded the comments with support.

Doug The Pug wrote: “Best. News. Ever” while actress Danielle Fishel added: “Stella!!! This makes me so happy.”

Australia Zoo commented: “Such a relief to hear – we love you Stella!!” and model Ellie Gonsalves said she was “SO happy to hear this.”

Just a week earlier, Robert had shared the devastating news that Stella had been diagnosed with cancer after vets discovered a mass.

“This is a tough one. I wanted to give an unfortunate update on my sweet little pup, Stella. A mass was discovered that ended up being cancerous,” he wrote on TikTok and Instagram at the time.

“We still don’t know the full extent of the cancer. I have faith she’ll be in the clear.”

He was met with an outpouring of support from his family. Sister Bindi, 27, wrote: “She’s such a strong and beautiful little soul,” while his mother, Terri, 61, added: “Every day is another day of healing. She is a determined little soul”

Terri, Bindi, her husband Chandler Powell, and their four-year-old daughter Grace recently joined Robert in Los Angeles to support him as he competes on the long-running US show.

On Sunday, the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! host posted a light-hearted video captioned “Dancing through life” featuring behind-the-scenes clips from rehearsals with his professional dance partner, Witney Carson.

“This is what a week five contemporary dance sounds like,” he joked in one clip, clicking his neck before giving a sheepish thumbs-up.

“I don’t know what’s going on there!”
