It was hard to watch.
The first My Kitchen Rules (MKR) 2025 Kitchen Headquarters challenge was hard to watch, with Lol breaking down in tears twice. She was particularly upset when the judges deemed Lol and Lil’s dish worse than Michael and Rielli’s, sending the youngest competitors to an elimination cook-off against Anne and Maree.
The girls have had a rivalry with Michael since the beginning, when he declared they would be the first to go home due to their age. Since then, he has constantly critiqued their food, and also called them “bogans”.
Lol tells Chattr that Michael’s criticism was in her head when finding out they were at risk of being eliminated. “We thought we’d proved ourselves a little bit in round two, and then you just get knocked back down again,” she says. “It was so emotional, because I know we can be so much better than that as well. And I just hate seeing Michael right, so I really wanted to prove him wrong.
“It was just a lot of pressure from everyone, because it wasn’t just him saying [we would go home next], it was a lot of teams.”
Lol also said there’s now so much “pressure” on the two, because they only have “one more chance” to prove they deserve to be in the competition. “If we don’t, then we’re going home,” she adds.
After Lol’s family watched the episode and saw how upset she was, they all felt for the MKR contestant. “They were all crying as well,” she admits. “I have people sending me photos of them in tears, and they were stressed.
“We love everyone that’s given us so much support. It’s been amazing. Obviously, we have felt it all and appreciate it.”

Did Lol and Lil expect to beat Michael and Rielli?
Lol and Lil weren’t impressed with Michael and Rielli’s Chicken Liver Velouté, and believed their flavours were better. “I don’t think we belong in the elimination challenge. I wish Australia could have tasted that liver. It tasted like dirty socks,” Lol says.
Lil agrees, saying it tasted “really bloody”.
“It wasn’t enjoyable and I didn’t try it and think yum, give me more,” Lil adds.
However, while the pair liked eating their own meal more, they weren’t pleased with what they plated up.
“We knew it wasn’t done to the best of our ability, so we just weren’t happy with what we produced,” she says.
Lil and Lol will face Anne and Maree during an elimination cook-off tonight, which means one of the most-loved teams will be eliminated from the competition.
Fingers crossed there are no more tears!
