Former reality star Anna Heinrich has opened up about a painful childhood experience.

The 38-year-old mother of two, who found love on The Bachelor in 2013 with Tim Robards, said she was dubbed ‘Barbie’ by her classmates during her school years.

And rather than it being affectionate, the blonde beauty said the cruel remark was meant to mark her out as a ‘bimbo’.

‘I still can’t get out of my head that I’m not good enough,’ Anna confessed, reflecting on the experience during Tuesday’s episode of her In Your Skin podcast.

‘I know, back when I was younger and I was at school, they called me “Barbie” but not in a positive way – it was about calling me a bimbo.’

‘Bimbo’, which is usually aimed at women, is a derogatory term implying that someone is both intellectually lightweight and superficial.

Anna made her comments during a chat with guest Peter Scone, a mental wellness guru, known as the Mind Architect.

‘Other people’s words can only hurt you to the degree that you already believe them,’ Scone said during the chat, responding to Anna’s painful memory.

He continued: ‘They said something, but what was actually awoken in you was this idea that you thought there was something wrong with you, that you were less than.

‘That’s what actually hurt you, is your own view of yourself. Not what somebody said.’

Anna shared a video of the chat on her Instagram and added a revealing anecdote about her childhood in the post.

‘I wasn’t chasing success, I was chasing validation. Trying to prove I was more than my hair colour,’ she said.

‘And even when I proved it, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I still wasn’t good enough,’ she said.

It comes after Anna and Tim recently jetted off to Italy to return to the scene of their lavish 2018 nuptials.

Taking to Instagram back in July, the couple shared a series of sweet photos documenting their child-free getaway, proving that, after seven years of marriage, their love still burns bright.

Anna and Tim tied the knot at the Masseria Potenti hotel, among the olive groves and vineyards of the Puglian countryside, five years after falling in love on The Bachelor.

Tim proposed to Anna with a ‘$173,000’ ring in May 2017 while on holiday in the Kimberley, Western Australia.

The lovebirds first met in 2013 during the first season of The Bachelor Australia.

After saying ‘I do’, the couple welcomed their first child, daughter Elle, in November 2020, and their second child, daughter Ruby, in March, 2024.

Anna revealed in 2024 that she has no plans to have a third child after her life-threatening birth complications with baby daughter Ruby.

Anna told Daily Mail Australia she ‘appreciates life more’ since the harrowing experience, and has no plans to have a third child in the future.
