EXCLUSIVE: Emma and Ben were labelled ‘the happiest couple’ on The Block 2025, but were left “devastated” after their heart-breaking auction result saw their house pass in.

They were the third couple to go to auction, and after a disappointing start, they stepped in and made the decision to pass in their home before a bid over reserve was made.

“It was not the result we were hoping for,” said a teary Emma, speaking exclusively to 9Entertainment just moments after their auction.

Emma and Ben were left in tears after “devastating” auction result.

With a high reserve of $2,990,000, the Melbourne parents made the difficult decision to pass their home after offers stagnated.

“I think it was the best play though,” said Emma. “We didn’t want to get to reserve and then go a dollar over.”

And while it was the best play, it was a result no-one saw coming or hoped for, for the new parents who just welcomed a baby boy Bailey at the start of October.

“You feel flat,” said Emma holding back tears. “You put your heart and soul into this house…”

“You definitely feel like a loser,” reacted Ben.

“You come into this show hoping the finale’s one with everyone jumping up out of the couch and on a high…” Ben went on.

“It’s just a bit devastating,” he said wiping away tears.

The couple agreed that pausing the auction and passing in “was the right move”.

“Negotiations are happening now with the agent and potential buyers so hopefully we get a good price for it,” Ben explained.

Emma and Ben said from the start they did The Block for the experience “and anything more would be a bonus”.

“We’ve had an incredible experience,” Emma reflected.

“We’re already winners,” said Ben as he looked to his wife. “We’ll keep smiling. I have a beautiful wife, a beautiful baby boy, nothing else matters.”
