We have officially entered the final week of The Block 2025 – and we can hardly believe it!
After 11 weeks of hard work, budgeting and body corps, it’s time to tie a neat bow on each house with Front Yard and Façade Week.
The winner of the final Room Reveal will take home TWO MG cars, one to sell with their home and one to drive away, plus receive a potentially game-winning $50,000 off their reserve price on Auction Day. Oh yes, we’ve saved the highest stakes for last!
First things first, it being the final Monday morning (and Alicia’s birthday) isn’t enough to turn Robby and Mat’s frowns upside down.
They’re downright salty after Emma and Ben used their secret gnome to take out Backyard Week over them, by just half a point.
Mostly because they really, really need some cash.
Guest judge Dave Franklin said these homes had some of the best landscaping he’d ever seen on the show, so the teams are itching to take a look during Open For Inspections.
The saltiness continues as the boys tour House 1 and feel pretty underwhelmed, which is a sentiment shared by many of their neighbours too.
Emma and Ben’s Backyard and Pool
Onto House 5, where Emma exclaims it’s “so much better than ours”.
Awkward!
Not as awkward as the conversation Robby and Mat are having with their landscaper, though!
“We’ve got $34k outstanding for the back,” he tells them.
“Sorry, what?” Mat reacts.
Oh that’s not good… (Nine)
Turns out, there was $29k worth of unforeseen engineering which has cost them and now leaves them with potentially nothing for this week.
This week, Han and Can are coming face-to-face with Han’s nemesis from day one: the retaining wall at the front of their house.
She hated it from the moment she saw it, so that’s some added fun to their already very stressed out, last-week-on-The–Block head spaces!
It makes planning hard, but landscaper Christian is determined to bring some Japanese inspired Zen to House 2’s front yard and hopefully also its contestants.
Britt and Taz have organised an incredible Indigenous artwork for their garage door this week.
But rather than give that away early on, they’ve also worked with Grafico to come up with a solution to hide it from their neighbours until judging.
It’s… well, it’s something!
Mat has crunched the numbers on his unexpected bill from landscaper Paal and, uh, he’s frustrated.
He says the increased cost was not communicated to him when the ‘unforeseen engineering’ popped up.
He wants to just cut ties leaving him and Rob to do the front yard themselves, but Robby says they’ve already paid for both so they should get both.
They’re obviously desperate for cash, so a surprise challenge from Scotty may come in very handy!
It’s pretty simple: build the biggest bikkie tower, win $10k.
Most of the teams launch straight in to create tall, leaning, crumbly towers, and even after a disaster fall at the final hurdle, Emma and Ben come away with the cash!
The loss opens wounds for Alicia, who takes herself back to her caravan to cry.
The lack of wins has her really in her head.
“This just feels like it’s such a waste of time, we’ve got no money – worst birthday ever,” she sobs.
It’s her birthday and she’ll cry if she wants to! (Nine)
It’s the time of year where Defect Dan, sorry we mean Foreman, visits each house with a list of defects to fix before the competition ends.
“Defects can range from wiping off a bit of paint on your frame, finish plastering in your hallway, things like that,” Dan explains.
Defect Dan is back in action! (Nine)
Houses 1, 2 and 5 are “not so bad”, but Houses 3 and 4 have rather chunky files! And they all have to be fixed by Sunday!
The final week means packing down the on site village, including the Chemist Warehouse.
However, all the goods still inside are not going to waste!
Chemist Warehouse is donating $100,000 worth of products to the Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre, which provides opportunities, training and goods to those in need.
It’s ALSO time for the final $5,000 from McCafé baristas Tina and Shayla and it is, yet again, Britt and Taz!
Their wellness area with spa, sauna and cold plunge does it.
Meanwhile, their neighbours at House 2 are desperate for cash.
And with opportunities to win any dwindling, stress levels are high. And stress levels were ALREADY high!
How much worse can it get?
Oh, okay so somewhat worse. (Nine)
Han and Can cannot get on the same page about both their front yard AND tackling their defect lift, leaving builder Shan to also act as a relationship counsellor.
We’re not sure they can afford that extra bill right now!
“It’s about being able to step back from the situation and wear the other person’s shoes a bit, to actually understand where they’re coming from,” he says.
He sends Can inside, keeps Han outside and gets a pat on the back from Han’s dad Lee in the process.
Backyard winners Emma and Ben are off on their MG Getaway, which this week includes shopping in Melbourne with Room Reveal stylist extraordinaire, Mr Fabulous.
Then comes dinner with Scotty, and a bit of dress up:
Now that’s a look. (Nine)
Meanwhile, the last Chumps Dinner is all about celebrating Alicia’s birthday – and trying to lift her spirits after a tough day.
Tomorrow night, the grand reveal of Britt and Taz’s garage door has the entire site laughing, but budget woes in Houses 2 and 5 threaten their Block experience.
Talk about a dramatic last week!
