Mat Johnson made headlines over the weekend when he lashed out at a producer after earning $109,999.10 in profit during The Block auction.
The hairdresser, 41, was caught in a foul-mouthed rant after he and Robby Lippet fetched $3.099million for House Five, just shy of their $2.99million reserve.
Property expert Adam Flynn has now slammed Mat for his outburst, saying Block contestants know what they’re getting into when they join the construction show.
‘With Mat’s comments, my view on that is they’re also playing a game. They understand what they’re doing,’ he told Daily Mail on Tuesday.
‘If the property was to sell for $1million over reserve, then obviously they would be very happy with that outcome.
‘So, I think any contestant going into The Block shouldn’t really carry on because they understand what they’re signing up for.’

‘It could go really well or it could not go so well. They understand what they’re signing up for,’ he continued.
However, Adam went on to say not all the blame can be put on contestants, as he suggested it wasn’t a ‘fair’ call to set reserves so high at auction.
‘If [Nine] have set the reserve in the hope of recouping funds because they paid premium for the blocks, I don’t think that’s necessarily fair as well,’ he said.
The network paid $9.5 million to acquire the Daylesford land before sub-dividing it into six separate lots.
‘[This] represents each lot being valued, based on that purchase price, at $1.5million per block… That is way over the top for properties of that size in that area,’ he said.
‘Essentially, those blocks of land are probably worth between $500,000 to $600,000 if they didn’t have The Block name attached to it.
‘Channel Nine have paid a premium for the parcel of land. So whether they’re trying to recoup some of those monies, I’m not quite sure.’
Adam went on to say ‘there has been nothing that has sold as a residential property in the last two years in excess of $3 million in Daylesford’.

‘To add to that, where the property is located, it’s going to be surrounded by properties that are worth significantly less than those five properties,’ he said.
‘It’s going to be hard for someone to buy with confidence knowing their asset is going to go up in value when the average selling price in Daylesford is roughly $800,000.
‘I was there last week… It’s a very busy spot. If someone is looking to make a multi-million dollar purchase in regional Victoria, typically that is going to be on acreage.’
The Block contestant Mat lashed out at a producer during filming for the auction on Saturday after netting a meagre $109,999.10 profit at the show’s final auction.
Moments after he and Robby, 37, learned the results of the auction for the house, the pair stepped outside for their media interviews, where Mat was visibly agitated.
When a producer cautioned they were felling ‘a bit sensitive’, Mat hit back at the Nine staffer, saying: ‘We’re not sensitive, we’re f***ed off.’
Following their media interviews Mat then repeatedly said ‘that was f**ked’ as he walked away from the cameras.
The Block finale was heartbreaking for most couples as they struggled to get buyers willing to bid over the eye-watering $2.99million reserve.

Hannah ‘Han’ Thetford and Candice ‘Can’ Wood failed to get any bids on their house after they immediately set a vendor bid of $3.1million and were forced to pass in.
Emma and Ben Cox also had to pass in after bidding stalled, forcing the pair to place a vendor bid of $3.1million, with buyers refusing to play ball.
Robby and Mat walked home with $109,999.10 to split between them after selling their home for $3.099million.
Sonny and Alicia had their reserve brought down to $2.94million after they won $50,000 off during a challenge earlier in the season.
The couple walked away with $120,000 after selling for $3.06million.

The fan favourites walked away $420,000 richer, adding to that, a $100,000 bonus winner’s prize, netting them a total of $520,000.
Earlier this year, it was revealed the teams behind the five properties were hoping to fetch $3million to $3.3million for their Daylesford creations this year.
However, the extremely high price guide did not match up with the median house prices in the Victorian town, where homes are four times cheaper.
According to PropTrack data recorded in July, an average home in Daylesford costs around $820,000, which marks a decrease of 7.1 per cent compared to the year prior.
