Alice Stolz tells Yahoo Lifestyle which house she expects to win at auction this year.

It’s been about three months since The Block kicked off this year, and the all-important auctions are hours away. So, who will walk away with that $100,000 prize money?

Price guides for the homes have been revealed, with each property priced between $3 million and $3.3 million. This puts the houses well above the median house price of $810,000 in Daylesford, Victoria.

Hopefully, this year we will see each couple walk away with a decent sum — last year, every team earned over $650,000 in profit, but that is rare.

Last year’s winners were Maddy and Charlotte, who walked away with a whopping $1.55 million, plus the extra $100,000.

Who will win The Block 2025?

This year, Domain’s National Property Editor, Alice Stolz, tells Yahoo Lifestyle she thinks Britt and Taz in House 3 could take out the competition on Sunday night.

“I think what’s really interesting is how strong House 3 is this year, and it’s one of the middle properties,” she shared.

“Because we know when it comes to that sort of orientation, or the proximity of each of the houses in The Block, people think quite deeply about that. But it’s funny that we’re in this thing where one of the favourites at the moment is House 3, and it’s sandwiched amongst all the other houses.”

Alice added that the couple’s property being in the middle “isn’t putting people off” because they’ve done such a “beautiful” job on the home.

“Their design sentiment is so strong, and they’re so good at what they’re doing, that it’s still appealing to people,” Alice said.

“You could argue that, almost from the outset, people wouldn’t have expected that to happen.”

Alice Stolz’s personal favourite house

As for her personal favourite house? It’s still House 3!

“I really do love House 3. I never thought I would say that about the Pilates room, and here I am saying if you gave me the blank check, I really love House 3,” she gushed.

The Pilates room was famously slammed by the show’s judges, with Marty Fox saying at the time that they had “reduced the value of the home” by including the health and wellness room instead of a second living space like everyone else.

Alice also said that Emma and Ben, who recently welcomed their first baby, from House 1, have created a very “warm” environment, and she loves the colour because it feels different from the other houses.

“Life’s too short to live in really plain houses, so I love their sense of colour,” she said.

Speaking about Han and Can’s property, House 2, Alice said it was funny to see that buyers were absolutely “bowled over” by their “epic kitchen”, despite it being criticised by hosts Scott Cam and Shelley Craft.

“I think we can all live in our own world about The Block a lot, but that’s the fascinating thing, you actually see real buyers walk through and they respond to things very differently than I think what anyone expects.”

Last year, a Yahoo Lifestyle poll predicted that Maddy and Charlotte would win the competition, and this year, our poll follows Alice’s lead, suggesting that Britt and Taz will walk away with the prize money.

They have 50 per cent of the votes to win at this stage.

Robby and Mat are second with 24 per cent, followed by Emma and Ben with 17 per cent, then Sonny and Alicia with six per cent, and Han and Can with just 3 per cent.
