Keith Urban is “in hiding” amid “embarrassment” in the wake of his divorce from Nicole Kidman, with the country singer abruptly cancelling a show on his tour.

Keith Urban is “in hiding” as he grapples with “embarrassment” over his divorce from Aussie star Nicole Kidman, according to an inside source.

The source told Woman’s Day this week the country singer, 57, is avoiding red carpet appearances amid scrutiny over his high-profile break-up with the Oscar-winning actress, 58.

“Things are just too awkward right now, and Keith just doesn’t have the confidence to face all the press,” the insider told the publication.

“Part of him is embarrassed to show his face on a red carpet until things settle down with his divorce.”

“The last thing he needs is to overshadow his new show with all his personal issues.”

Keith is rumoured to be dating his High and Alive tour guitarist Maggie Baugh, 25, with reported links to singer Kelsea Ballerini, 32, too, amid claims he has already moved on with a younger woman in the music industry.

In the wake of backlash over the dating claims, he abruptly cancelled his show in South Carolina, scheduled for Thursday, due to laryngitis.

A Bon Secours Wellness Arena spokesperson said Vanderbilt Voice Centre’s Dr Gaelyn Garrett advised the country crooner to cancel.

“He has been placed on complete vocal rest and Dr Garrett is optimistic that he will be back onstage for his Nashville show,” a statement read.

Keith expressed remorse to his South Carolina fans ahead of his expected return to the stage at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Friday evening.

“Hey Greenville, I’m so SO sorry to have to cancel the show,” he said in the statement.

“I know all the logistics it takes to get to a concert these days, and I’ve never taken any of that, or any of YOU, for granted.

“I’m looking forward to getting back there when we can!!!!!”

Keith will have time to recover before his Las Vegas residency titled High In Vegas kicks off at the luxury Fontainebleau hotel in November.

The development comes after Nicole fronted the media with a brave face after the pair’s split went viral, wearing a diamond-and-gold snake necklace in a photo for skincare brand Clé de Peau Beauté on Instagram.

Her choice of jewellery could indicate she feels Keith has been slippery.

She appeared to address their split in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, where she touched on moving past “pain” and “devastation”.

“As I get older, I want to be able to share and impart the things I’ve learned. I’ve seen a lot, I’ve experienced a lot, and I’ve survived a lot,” Nicole told the publication.

“I want to pass on some of that knowledge and that wisdom and whatever I’ve learned.”

Kidman is said to be preparing for a new life in Portugal with the ex-couple’s daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, reportedly eyeing properties in the ultra-exclusive CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club.

She has been viewing homes in the luxurious Comporta region, about an hour south of Lisbon, where neighbours include George and Amal Clooney, Paris Hilton and Princess Eugenie, according to the Daily Mail.

Portuguese outlet SIC Notícias in July reported she submitted official residency paperwork to the country’s Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) without Urban’s name listed.

Just months later, Kidman filed for divorce from her husband of 19 years, citing “irreconcilable differences”.

Urban allegedly initiated the breakup and confronted Kidman about his “unhappiness” in their marriage, reportedly leaving her feeling “betrayed”.

Divorce filings obtained by TMZ revealed Kidman sought to be the “primary residential parent” of the Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.

A parenting plan will see the teenagers spend 306 days with Kidman and 59 days with Urban each year.

Nicole reportedly made every effort to save her relationship with the country music star and protect her family.
