Today marks the 4th anniversary of Summer’s disappearance.

Summer Wells disappeared on June 15th, 2021. She had been playing in the garden, supposedly helping her grandmother and mother plant some flowers. When she disappeared, she had asked to go back inside and play with her brothers—and is said to have vanished from the basement of the family home.

From the moment I first heard about Summer’s disappearance, something didn’t add up.

I saw the first interview her parents gave, and I noticed huge red flags. Only the father seemed emotional—not the mother—and both of them came across as very deceptive. I knew, from the moment I laid eyes on them, that something bad had happened to Summer.

A lot of people believe that maybe Summer was sold. Perhaps the parents were having problems with illegal substances, and maybe they had a big debt to pay off. Could they have paid that debt by selling their own daughter?

It’s a disturbing thought.

This February marked what would have been Summer’s 9th birthday.

Could she still be out there—alive? Could someone have really abducted her? Could she now be a 9-year-old girl, living somewhere else?

I have to say: I highly doubt that. I’ve always believed that Summer is dead.

I know it’s not a nice thing to say, but it’s just how I feel.

Both of her parents often spoke about her in the past tense. And when they realized they had, they would quickly try to correct themselves, switching to the present tense. But they’d already slipped up—especially her father, Don.

And just why were her three older brothers taken away from Don and Candace and placed in care?

Interestingly, four years later, these three boys—Summer’s brothers—are still in care and have never been returned to their parents. That raises a lot of questions.

If you’re not familiar with Summer’s case: the family home was in a terrible state. The inside was in serious disrepair, and the yard looked more like a junkyard than a garden. It was not a home fit for children.

Both parents had substance abuse problems, and their relationship was known to be volatile.

I’ve always wondered: was the condition of the home the only reason the boys were put into care? Or was there more going on?

I suspect the Tennessee police may believe Summer came to harm at home—perhaps due to an accident—and that the parents tried to cover it up.

I’ve always felt she wasn’t hurt on purpose. Maybe she was left in a car sleeping and died from heat exhaustion. Or maybe there was another tragic accident, and the parents panicked.

I also have another theory—one that’s incredibly heartbreaking.

Could she have gotten into a fight with one of her older brothers, and it got out of hand? Could one of them have accidentally killed her?

I know it’s harsh. But it’s a theory I’ve always given serious consideration to.

Whatever happened to Summer, she’s always in my thoughts. I just hope that one day she is found—safe, somehow.

So, four years on from her tragic disappearance…

And I wish I wasn’t still talking about her four years later.
