Do I agree with the way they handled the investigation so far? No. They focused too much on the theory that the children wandered away into the woods and were lost. During that time, important evidence may have been lost. They also took weeks to scour for footage from neighbors, which should have been done immediately.

Anyway, Daniel, the stepfather, has been the only one that continues to speak out about the children’s disappearance. It’s been alleged the mother lawyered up, and I’m wondering if it was the advice of her lawyer to reopen her Facebook page, too.

How does it look for the mother of missing children to not use social media as a tool to advocate for them, when thousands of people around the world are doing that? It looks very suspicious.

Daniel spoke out to the media again, this time addressing the polygraph test. Firstly, he kept to his promise about the polygraph—he asked the police for one and took it. According to him, the results are in his favor, meaning that he passed the test. Whether he is being truthful about those results or not, we don’t know.

Daniel is happy that police are asking for additional footage and is asking for anyone with information to please come forward. He says that he hasn’t had contact with Mallaya since May 3rd, when she left the home. A liaison officer has been put in charge of keeping them both updated as the case progresses.

He says people should listen to the RCMP and that they don’t have to trust his word, but he is the only one doing media interviews for Jack and Lily and trying to get them found. He is definitely not wrong about that—he is the only one keeping their names and faces out in mainstream media.

It’s really a massive red flag that Mallaya is so silent when it is her children that are missing. I highly doubt a lawyer would advise that unless they have more knowledge of her being involved somehow in the children’s disappearance. It is really alarming behavior for a mother who has missing children.

That effort began weeks later—when memories had faded, data had potentially been overwritten, and public interest had already started to fray. It’s frustrating to think how different the trajectory of the case could have been if more urgency had been applied in those critical first 48 hours.

Despite these concerns, one person has remained relatively vocal throughout the ordeal—Daniel Martell, the children’s stepfather. He has consistently spoken to the media and made public appeals, seemingly determined to keep Jack and Lily’s names in the spotlight. Whether one believes everything he says or not, the fact remains: he is the only close family member maintaining a public presence for these children. While Daniel continues to speak, there’s a stark contrast on the other side. Jack and Lily’s mother, Mallaya, has gone virtually silent. Since her initial media appearance, she has made no further public statements, no new pleas, and no visible engagement with the many social media campaigns dedicated to her missing children. This silence has raised a great deal of concern.

Reports have now surfaced suggesting that Mallaya has lawyered up—a development that immediately prompts speculation. While it’s not uncommon for people to seek legal representation during an active investigation, especially one involving missing children, it does raise questions. Does she fear being accused of something? Is her lawyer advising silence to avoid self-incrimination? Or is she simply overwhelmed and unsure of how to navigate the growing media frenzy?

An equally curious detail is that Mallaya recently reactivated her Facebook page—but still hasn’t posted anything about the children. This is striking, considering how powerful social media has been in keeping Jack and Lily’s faces in the public eye. Thousands of people around the world are sharing photos, tips, and theories—trying to help. Yet their own mother remains inactive, disengaged, and silent. That, too, feels deeply troubling.

It’s been noted that Mallaya left the family home on May 3rd, just one day after the children were reported missing. According to Daniel, the two have not spoken since then. Communication between them now reportedly goes through a police liaison officer. This kind of separation is unusual. In most cases involving missing children, parents—regardless of their relationship status—stand united in their desperation to find their kids. Here, that unity appears fractured, if not completely absent.

Daniel insists that people don’t need to trust him personally but should instead trust the RCMP. He acknowledges that public opinion is divided but points out, fairly, that he is the only one doing media interviews and advocating for the children. And while that doesn’t automatically absolve him of suspicion, it does underscore how unbalanced the public effort has become. Where is the children’s mother? Where is her urgency?

Of course, we must consider the emotional toll something like this would take on any parent. People grieve and process trauma in different ways. Silence does not always mean guilt. But in a case with so few answers, every action—or inaction—takes on enormous weight. If Mallaya has been advised by legal counsel to remain silent, that itself implies that there is something at stake legally. If she were merely overwhelmed, we might expect at least a post or a shared photo of her children. But instead, there has been nothing.

This discrepancy is what makes people uneasy. And while polygraph results cannot be seen as definitive proof of anything, Daniel at least appears to be engaging in the investigation and making public efforts to assist. That stands in contrast to Mallaya, whose silence continues to deepen the public’s suspicion.

It’s also important to remember that the RCMP has not publicly named any suspects or ruled out any possibilities. They’ve confirmed that over 50 interviews have been conducted and that hundreds of tips have been submitted. Investigators have also asked the public to submit dash cam or surveillance footage from a specific time window, suggesting they are narrowing in on a critical period—possibly the hours following the children’s last confirmed sighting on May 1st.

There are still far more questions than answers, but the tone of the investigation seems to be shifting. What began as a massive ground and air search has now evolved into a broader forensic and timeline-based investigation. Who was with the children on May 1st? What happened between then and when they were reported missing on May 2nd? And why are those closest to them not on the same page—or even speaking to each other?

As this case continues to unfold, one thing is clear: silence will not protect anyone. Whether it’s guilt, fear, or legal advice behind the lack of engagement, it is having a very real effect on public perception. For the sake of Jack and Lily, answers are needed—and soon.
