The anticipation has finally ended as BBC audiences returned to Scotland’s Ardross Castle on Wednesday evening.

Host Claudia Winkleman launched a fresh game of deception and treachery with the inaugural celebrity edition of The Traitors, featuring well-known personalities including Kate Garraway, Paloma Faith and Tom Daley.

Nevertheless, she has recently revealed details about one touching moment that occurred away from the cameras.

Unlike the standard series, where Faithfuls and Traitors compete for monetary rewards, the celebrity edition will witness the famous participants vying for up to £100,000 to benefit a charity of their choosing.

As the programme commenced, the 19 celebrities were transported in separate groups to the fortress. Yet rather than disembarking to meet one another, they were escorted to a different venue where Claudia awaited them.

At this location, she explained they could secure an opportunity to protect themselves from elimination by excavating a grave bearing their name to discover a shield, reports the Daily Record.

Nevertheless, upon their return to the castle, it was time for Claudia to determine which contestants would become Traitors and who would remain Faithful.

Ultimately, she selected Jonathan Ross, Cat Burns and Alan Carr as this series’ Traitors.

Despite Alan’s attempts to contain his grin after being selected, viewers were swift to express their opinions across social media.

Posting on X, one viewer commented: “I AM SO HAPPY THAT ALAN IS A TRAITOR BUT ALSO CONSIDERABLY VERY WORRIED.”

Another posted: “Alan will give himself away in 5 mins.” One viewer remarked: “I’m going to say this now, Alan Carr is not going to last.”

Another fan chimed in: “Alan Carr is gonna be the first traitor out 1000000.”

A different viewer noted: “Alan Carr as a Traitor, god he’s going to be a car crash at this.” While another expressed doubt, saying: “I’m not sure Alan will be able to cope.”

Discussing his selection, it was evident that Alan wasn’t overly confident about being a Traitor either, even comparing himself to last year’s unfortunate Traitor, Linda Rands.

He confessed to the camera: “I thought I wanted to be a Traitor, but I have a sweating problem and I can’t keep a secret,” adding: “It’s too much. What am I going to do?”

Will Alan manage to keep his identity hidden and avoid detection from the other players?

This year’s series features celebrities including Alan Carr, Cat Burns, Celia Imrie, Charlotte Church, Clare Balding, David Olusoga, Joe Marler and Joe Wilkinson.

Also hoping to win some money for charity are Jonathan Ross, Kate Garraway, Lucy Beaumont, Mark Bonnar, Nick Mohammed, Niko Omilana, Paloma Faith, Ruth Codd, Stephen Fry, Tameka Empson and Tom Daley.
