Danny Jones recently opened up about the challenges his wife, 

Georgia Jones, faced earlier this year, just days before he found himself at the center of a controversy involving his I’m A Celebrity co-star, Maura Higgins.

The McFly musician candidly discussed his wife’s struggle with burnout following his time in the Australian jungle,

revealing that she had been overwhelmed by the pressures of solo parenting and moving house alone while he was away.

Danny made the revelation during an episode of the Parenting Hell podcast with Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe,

which aired just a day before he was seen sharing a drunken kiss with Maura at a Brit Awards afterparty.

In the podcast, he admitted that Georgia had a tough start to the year and needed time alone to recover from the mental and physical toll of managing everything without him.

The musician acknowledged the immense burden Georgia carried in his absence, saying, “I’m surprised she’s still with me, to be honest, because she moved house all by herself.” He further explained that upon his return, Georgia expressed the need to take a break and went on a solo retreat to recharge.

“When I got back, my wife was like, ‘I just think I need to go away to a hut myself for a few days,’” Danny shared. He admitted that he could see how much she was struggling and encouraged her to take some time for herself. “She was overwhelmed. It got too much for her. And I could see it. I was like, ‘You just need to go.’”

Georgia, who shares a seven-year-old son, Cooper, with Danny, opened up about her experience on her own podcast, Mum’s The Word. She described feeling completely drained and needing to be alone, away from the responsibilities of daily life.

“I was like, do you know what? F*** it. I’m going to do it. I need to be on my own. I need silence. I can’t hear – I can’t hear people needing me anymore. I can’t. I can’t do it,” she admitted.

In an Instagram post, Georgia elaborated on her struggles, explaining how difficult it was to balance solo parenting, moving house, and working on her career while Danny was away filming I’m A Celebrity.

Feeling completely burnt out, she decided to book a retreat in the middle of nowhere to reset her mental well-being.

“I was going into this New Year burnt out. Everything I didn’t want to feel entering 2025… I felt,” she wrote. “So whilst I was still in Australia, I decided I needed to do something for me… a solo trip, one to push me out of my comfort zone but also one to give me the break I craved.”

Georgia’s retreat involved staying in a cabin in a secluded woodland area, where she embraced nature, chopped firewood, built fires, read books, and simply enjoyed the peace and quiet. “I found a little nugget of calm in my overwhelmed brain,” she shared.

“I pushed myself. When it started getting dark, when I got a log stuck on the cutter, when I thought I was going to get snowed in… I thought about leaving… I thought ‘I can’t do this.’ But I did! And now I’m going into this year super proud of myself.”

Despite the emotional and physical toll Georgia experienced, she and Danny had seemingly reconnected after his return.

However, just days after he spoke about their struggles, Danny found himself in the headlines for the wrong reasons. Footage from a Brit Awards afterparty surfaced, showing him and Maura Higgins sharing a brief kiss.

The video, reportedly taken just before 3 AM, showed the two standing close together in a venue foyer before Danny appeared to give Maura a quick peck.

The pair had spent time together during the night, sharing a table and at one point, Maura rested her head on Danny’s shoulder. Witnesses described them as looking close and engaged in deep conversation.

Following the controversy, Georgia has remained silent and has yet to publicly address the situation. However, it is understood that she has pulled out of a scheduled public Q&A at The Baby Show this weekend, and has not recorded any new episodes of her podcast since the news broke.

Danny, who has been married to Georgia since 2014, has not made any public statements regarding the incident either.

However, sources close to the couple claim that Georgia is feeling deeply embarrassed by the situation, especially after the struggles she had already faced earlier in the year.

It remains to be seen how Danny and Georgia will move forward from this controversy, but for now, the McFly star is facing scrutiny over his actions, and Georgia is seemingly taking time to process the situation privately.
