Eamonn Holmes sparked concern from his fans after revealing that he has been hospitalised.

Health experts say that Holmes’ situation underscores the importance of rest and ongoing medical care for individuals managing chronic pain.

The presenter has previously shared that nerve damage in his back has made walking extremely difficult, at times forcing him to rely on physiotherapy and specialized rehabilitation programs.

“I have to face the reality of my situation,” Holmes said in an earlier interview. “But I try to stay positive, to laugh when I can, and to keep doing what I love.”

For many fans, those words have become a symbol of Holmes’ resilience — a reminder that even in the face of adversity, he remains optimistic and grounded.

“He’s always been open about what he’s going through,” one longtime viewer wrote online. “That’s what makes him so relatable. We’re all praying he bounces back soon.”

As of now, Holmes’ representatives have asked for privacy while he recovers, promising to provide an update once more information becomes available. Meanwhile, GB News producers have reportedly adjusted upcoming schedules to accommodate his absence, with rotating guest hosts expected to fill in temporarily.

A source close to the network stated, “Everyone here just wants him healthy. The door will always be open for him to return when he’s ready.”

GB News presenter Eamonn, 65, shared the worrying update on his Instagram earlier today (Wednesday, October 8).

Eamonn Holmes’ health woes

Taking to Instagram this morning, the GB News host revealed that he’s been in hospital for an issue concerning his eye.

The former This Morning favourite shared two snaps for his 767k followers to see. In both, he can be seen wearing a big patch over his right eye. In the second, Eamonn is pulling a face while in his car, with even more tape on the patch to keep it in place.

“One of these eye patches was put on in hospital and the other one by me. See if u can guess which? Ps You should see the other guy!!!!” he captioned the post.

However, the star didn’t reveal why he has an eye patch.

A source has alleged to the Daily Mail that Eamonn underwent an eye operation that wasn’t serious.

The news of Holmes’ hospitalisation has also prompted an outpouring of support from within the broadcasting community. Several of his colleagues and former co-hosts have expressed their well-wishes publicly.

GMB presenter Susanna Reid shared, “Sending love to Eamonn — one of the kindest and most genuine people in the business. Hoping for a full and speedy recovery.”

Dan Wootton, Holmes’ GB News colleague, echoed the sentiment, writing: “Our thoughts are with Eamonn tonight. We all know how tough he is — he’ll get through this.”

Holmes’ long and decorated career has made him one of the most recognisable faces in UK media. From his early days on GMTV to his acclaimed run on Sky News Sunrise and later This Morning, he has built a reputation as a warm, witty, and fiercely professional broadcaster.

His charm and empathy have endeared him to millions of viewers, while his honesty about health and personal struggles has only deepened that connection in recent years.

Though the road ahead may require rest and patience, there’s little doubt that Eamonn Holmes will approach it with the same determination that has defined his entire career.

As fans continue to send messages of love and support, one sentiment seems to capture the national mood: Britain isn’t ready to let go of one of its most cherished broadcasters just yet.

“It seems to have put him out for longer than he hoped,” a source said, though. “It’s one thing after another with setbacks… his back as well, and he’s got to have more surgery on his back, so he’s out of action.”

Fans send Eamonn their support

Plenty of Eamonn’s fans and followers took to the comment section to send the star their support this morning.

According to multiple reports, Holmes was admitted earlier this week after experiencing a sudden health setback. Details surrounding his condition remain limited, but insiders close to the presenter confirmed that he is currently under medical supervision and “receiving the best possible care.” While representatives have not yet issued an official statement, a source described the situation as “concerning but stable,” adding that Holmes’ family is “by his side and keeping a close eye on developments.”

Fans were quick to flood social media with messages of encouragement, many using the hashtag #GetWellSoonEamonn. “Gosh, hope you’re okay, Eamonn — sending love and strength,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Another commented, “He’s such a national treasure. We’re all rooting for him to pull through this.” The outpouring of support reflects the deep affection viewers have for the veteran broadcaster, who has been a fixture on British television for more than four decades.

Holmes, best known for his long-running role as co-host on This Morning alongside Ruth Langsford, has been open about his ongoing battle with chronic back and mobility issues. In recent interviews, he has spoken candidly about living with persistent pain and nerve damage following several spinal surgeries. Despite these challenges, Holmes has remained dedicated to his broadcasting career, continuing to appear on GB News and other television projects even during his rehabilitation periods.

“Oh no!! Hope not too sore!!! X,” one fan wrote. “Gosh, hope you’re okay Eamonn?!” another said.

“Uh Eamonn this looks sore. Sending you big hugs and positive energy to get well. I hope you are ok,” a third commented.

“Hope you’re okay Eamonn, take care of yourself,” another added.

“This too shall pass,” a fifth said.

Eamonn’s accident

Earlier this year, Eamonn suffered a fall while live on air on GB News.

The star fell out of his chair while presenting the show on Wednesday, May 21, leading to his show briefly being taken off air.

Despite soldiering on, Eamonn admitted he was “really sore”. “It was a shock for me because I had a fall two weeks ago in my bathroom that hospitalised me and that hit me right in the back. And that hit me again right in the back. Really really sore, really sore,” he said.

Television personality Eamonn Holmes has reportedly been rushed to hospital, sparking widespread concern among fans and colleagues alike. The Good Morning Britain presenter, 65, has faced a series of health struggles in recent years, and news of his latest hospitalisation has once again placed him at the centre of public attention. Social media erupted overnight with messages of worry and support, as fans rallied around the beloved broadcaster with heartfelt wishes for a swift recovery.

The timing of his hospitalisation comes amid a difficult year for the presenter, who recently confirmed his split from long-time partner Ruth Langsford after more than a decade of marriage. The pair, who were once one of British television’s most beloved couples, announced their separation earlier in 2025, citing the challenges of “growing apart” while maintaining busy careers. Friends have described Holmes as “determined but exhausted,” noting that the physical and emotional toll of his health issues and personal life have weighed heavily on him.

“He’s been through so much,” one industry insider told The Mirror. “Between the back surgeries, the pain management, and everything that’s happened personally this year, it’s been incredibly tough. Eamonn is strong — he’s a fighter — but this latest scare has really worried those closest to him.”

Holmes’ most recent public appearance came just last month, when he co-hosted a special GB News segment covering the 2025 UK political conference season. Observers noted that while he appeared in good spirits, he moved cautiously on set and occasionally used a walking aid. “He’s been managing, but you could tell he was still struggling,” one viewer commented. “He’s always so professional, but you can see the pain in his face sometimes.”

It was later reported that GB News were potentially looking at replacing Eamonn following a string of health woes.

“He’s in pain all of the time. It’s so very sad to watch. Even though he has no feeling at all in his back at times, he is up at the crack of dawn and does three hours of live television, which he is, of course, very good at. The viewers love him, but you do have to wonder how long this is going to go on,” a pal told the Daily Mail at the time.
