Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus met in 2009 on the set of the movie The Last Song. Although their love story might seem like a rom-com from the outside, it was not perfect. The couple got engaged in August 2012 but got separated by December 2013.

They got back again in 2016, and after two years of dating, they got married in December 2018 in a secret wedding. However, they again got separated after being together for about less than a year, and by January 2020, they were officially divorced.

Cyrus even confessed on Joe Rogan Experience how difficult it was for her to go through a divorce publicly. Although she was okay with the fact that two people can grow apart, she couldn’t accept the “villainizing and just all those stories.” The singer then wrote some tracks, including Flowers, which many believe to be about Hemsworth.

But now, she has a new problem. A legal battle over Flowers is bringing back her memories with Hemsworth. A source told In Touch,

Miley — for the most — has put Liam behind her, but this business with the lawsuit has really set her off again and got her very anxious and freaked out because it’s all coming out that she wrote this song about him.

The source says that Cyrus might need to “go on record in court and explain her motivations behind the song”, which will be “painful” for her. This blast from the past is giving Cyrus trouble and her current boyfriend Maxx Morando too. The source revealed,

She’s now saying she wants to speak with Liam to give him a heads up and get some closure on the whole painful chapter, which isn’t going over well with Maxx.

Despite the fact that she has seemingly moved on with her current musician boyfriend, her previous association with Hemsworth may again hinder her life, which was finally looking stable for the singer.

The Lawsuit That’s Causing Relationship Trouble For Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is currently on the receiving end of a lawsuit for allegedly copying Flowers from Bruno Mars’ 2013 hit When I Was Your Man. Flowers is accused of having melodic, chord progression, and lyrical similarities to Mars’ song.

But Bruno Mars is not a part of this legal scenario. Tempo bought their share of When I Was Your Man from co-writer Philip Lawrence in 2020. As per The Guardian, the lawsuit also states,

It is undeniable based on the combination and number of similarities between the two recordings that Flowers would not exist without When I Was Your Man. With Flowers, Cyrus, Hein and Pollack have created a derivative work of When I Was Your Man without authorization.

Tempo is asking compensation for damages and wants to prevent Miley from reproducing, distributing, or performing Flowers. That is quite a big ask, as the song topped the charts, won a Grammy, and has been one of Cyrus’ biggest hits ever.
