Pamela Anderson’s eldest son, Brandon Lee, has opened up about how the actress truly feels about missing out on an Oscar nomination for her role in The Last Showgirl.
The 57-year-old former Baywatch star has experienced a career resurgence, earning critical praise for her 2024 performance in the Gia Coppola-directed film.
Her portrayal led to her first-ever Golden Globe nomination, sparking Oscar buzz leading up to the announcement of the 2025 Academy Award nominees.
However, when the list was revealed last month, Anderson’s name was absent.
Speaking to Variety, 28-year-old Brandon shared that rather than feeling defeated, the snub has only fueled his mother’s ambition.
“She’s hungry for her next role,” he revealed. “The win is in the work,” he said, quoting his famous mom. “She’s already won the fans and her colleagues’ hearts.”
Reflecting on the unexpected momentum The Last Showgirl gained, Brandon admitted that awards recognition was never their primary goal. “We never went into this thinking that was even a possibility,” he explained. “It starts to become surreal when you’re suddenly part of an awards campaign and people connect deeply with the film’s message.”
Anderson’s Perspective on the Oscars Snub
Despite missing out on an Oscar nod, Pamela has taken the situation in stride. She told Elle magazine, “Oh my gosh, it’s not something I ever expected. Doing the work is the win.”
She emphasized the importance of staying focused on the craft rather than accolades, saying, “That’s what I love to do, and I think sometimes we lose sight of that during awards season. It’s nice to be recognized, but everything beyond that is just a bonus.”
While Anderson was not nominated in the Best Actress category, the competition included Cynthia Erivo for Wicked, Karla Sofia Gascón for Emilia Perez, Mikey Madison for Anora, Demi Moore for The Substance, and Fernanda Torres for I’m Still Here.
Instead of dwelling on the snub, Pamela expressed gratitude for her Screen Actors Guild (SAG) nomination, calling it particularly special because it comes from industry peers. “That’s really cool,” she said. “It has been a long road promoting this film.”
A Career High Point and Personal Reflections
As Anderson continues to enjoy newfound respect in Hollywood, she remains focused on her family, particularly her sons. In addition to Brandon, she shares 27-year-old Dylan with her ex-husband, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee.
Pamela and Tommy’s relationship was famously tumultuous. The two met in 1995, had a whirlwind marriage, welcomed two children, and ultimately divorced. While their communication has dwindled in recent years, Pamela remains optimistic about their family’s future.
During a January interview with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM, she reflected on her current dynamic with Tommy. “We used to talk a lot more. Not recently, unfortunately, but I wish we had a better rapport right now,” she admitted. “It’ll be okay, eventually. It’s just kind of a moment right now.”
Looking ahead, Anderson is embracing the idea of becoming a grandmother. “My younger son is engaged, and we’re going to have grandkids together,” she said with excitement.
Meanwhile, Tommy Lee has moved on, marrying comedian Brittany Furlan in 2019. While their lives have taken different paths, Pamela remains centered on what’s most important to her—family and her continued growth as an actress.
Looking Forward
Though an Oscar nomination wasn’t in the cards this year, Anderson’s journey with The Last Showgirl has marked a defining chapter in her career. With her sights set on future roles, her recent acclaim is proving to be just the beginning of a new phase in Hollywood. If anything, the experience has only ignited her passion further, and as Brandon put it, the best is yet to come.
