On Saturday night, Strictly Come Dancing’s Ellie Goldstein and Vito Coppola impressed the judges with their heartwarming routine.

The duo secured a score of 23, putting them ninth on the leaderboard, with Alex Kingston and Johannes Radebe securing the top spot, following the professional’s recent career admission.

BBC viewers saw Ellie and Vito perform a butterfly-themed Waltz, however, it seems as though there was a hidden moment that held great significance for the duo.

During Tuesday’s episode of It Takes Two, the pair spoke with host Janette Manrara about their routine, which the presenter called ‘beautiful’

She commented: “You started on your own again on the stairs, did you have any butterflies in your stomach?” Ellie replied: “I had nerves at first but they were coming down, the Waltz was a good dance, it was a great dance by Vito.”

The model explained that the dance for her was graceful and elegant as she added: “I got a bit emotional but on the inside, not on the outside.”

Janette asked the professional dancer how impressed he was with Ellie’s performance, as he revealed the real reason they chose to include the stairs in the routine.

He replied: “Honestly, I was really trying not to get emotional during the dance! The moment, coming down from the stairs.

“This is also our own little journey, we want to have a little challenge, and Ellie was a little bit afraid of getting down from the stairs on her own.

“I said, that’s why we’re going to set this challenge, you’re going to come down on your own and we’re going to meet on the middle of the floor and I was so, so proud.

“The moment you were spinning around, I thought, oh she’s going to fly now like a butterfly.”

Ellie also spoke about her sister being in the audience during the live show, as the BBC star revealed she loved watching her.
