Missing Jonathan Hoang — POSSIBLE SIGHTING – Please share 🔴
If you remember, a few months ago, I covered a case and made a couple of videos about a 21-year-old young man on the autism spectrum named Jonathan Hong. He was last seen on March 30th at his home in Arlington, Washington State.

His family has been convinced that Jonathan is out there somewhere — that he didn’t just wander off into the woods and die. They’ve been running a Facebook page, this one here, since Jonathan went missing. It’s very active, and there’s a lot of interesting information on it.

Well, I checked it today — and a couple of hours ago, as I record this — they’ve announced there’s been a potential sighting of Jonathan.

Let’s Backtrack for a Moment
Just for those who don’t remember the case, let’s do a quick recap.

Jonathan, 21 years old, was living with his family. His family has spoken to DLine, to NewsNation — they’ve done everything they can to publicize the fact that Jonathan is missing. It’s been really, really hard.

His father, Theo, told DLine:

“I don’t know if we can stand it much longer, but we have to. We need to be here when he’s found. So there’s really no choice.”

Jonathan, who lived at home with his parents and one of his two sisters, is on the autism spectrum. Theo told DLine that although Jonathan appears as a young man, developmentally he’s more like 8 to 10 years old — mentally still a child.

Theo last saw his son on Sunday, March 30th, at their home outside Arlington, Washington. He said he was doing his daily run on the treadmill around 7:30 p.m. when Jonathan came into the room and asked if he could sleep in the guest room downstairs.

Theo asked him why, and Jonathan said,

“The treadmill is kind of noisy.”
Theo replied,
“Well, it’s a short run. I’ll be done within an hour — way before your bedtime.”
So Jonathan went back to his room.

A short while later, he returned again and asked if he could stay home from school the next day, explaining that he didn’t feel well. He was enrolled in a transition program at Western High School in Arlington.

Theo told him,

“If that’s the case tomorrow, take a rest. If you still don’t feel well in the morning, talk with Mom and you can stay home.”
Jonathan said,
“Okay.”
And went back to his room again.

Then, around 8:00 p.m., Theo — still on the treadmill — saw Jonathan walking downstairs toward the guest room. He asked where he was going, and Jonathan said,

“I’m going to bed.”

Theo thought it was a little odd — they had just discussed him sleeping in his own room — but figured maybe Jonathan wasn’t feeling well. Maybe he was tired or just sick of the treadmill noise.

So Theo said,

“Good night.”
Jonathan nodded and walked off.
That was the last time anyone saw him.

The Next Morning
Theo left for work around 5:30 a.m.
About an hour later, his wife called and asked if he had taken Jonathan to the bus stop. He said no, he was already at work.

After a short conversation, they hung up. A few minutes later, she called again and said,

“He’s not in his room.”

Theo suggested he might be in the guest room. But after checking, she called back again five minutes later:

“I can’t find him.”

Jonathan’s mother and sister searched the house. When they couldn’t find him anywhere, they called the police.

The Search Effort
On Monday, March 31st, following the 911 call, Jonathan was entered as a missing person. Search and Rescue was immediately paged.

The Sheriff’s Office and Search & Rescue led a massive operation — over 150 searchers, drones, helicopters, canines, man trackers — with over 4,000 man-hours logged in the first six days.

Despite this, Jonathan was not located.

On April 10th, cadaver dogs were brought in. No alerts.
Further searches were done on April 19th, 25th, and 26th — but again, nothing.

Dozens of tips and possible sightings were investigated. None of them were Jonathan.

What’s Missing?
Here’s where it gets interesting.
According to Theo, the only things missing from the home were:

Jonathan’s iPad

A pair of wired headphones he uses with the iPad

His mother’s black slip-on gardening shoes

That’s it.
He left behind his favorite shoes and jacket — and his phone.
It was still cold in early spring, and he never left home without his jacket, which he uses for comfort and regulation.

His walks? Always during the day, never at night. He had a strict routine.
And that night… he broke it. Which is why his family believes this wasn’t random — it was planned or coerced.

Theo told DLine:

“People have reached out to him through his iPad and bullied him.
We tried to get him to stop engaging online because it’s unsafe.
But he’s very trusting of adults. If someone tells him to do something, he’ll do it.”

Jonathan has never expressed a desire to run away. He loved being at home. He followed his routine religiously.

So when he left at night, without his usual comforts, without even telling anyone — they believe he was lured.

Law Enforcement Stance
As of the May 2nd press release, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office says there’s still no evidence of foul play or criminal activity. However, they are not ruling out any possibilities.

When asked if they believed he could have been kidnapped, their communications director reiterated there’s no current evidence of that — but they continue exploring all avenues.

A Message to a Possible Abductor
Theo had this to say:

“We don’t harbor any anger.
We live by our faith, and we know people make mistakes.
We just want Jonathan back. That’s all we want.”

He described his son as a gentle soul — kind, happy, polite — someone who always thinks the best of people.

“I wish I was more like him,” Theo said.
“He’s the kind of person the world needs more of.”

Description

The New Sighting
Now, to the recent sighting.
It comes from Kirkland, Washington.

Here’s the map — Jonathan lives in Arlington, and the address mentioned is just outside Kirkland.
That’s a straight highway run — about 40+ miles. Jonathan couldn’t have gotten there alone.

If you live in the Kirkland area, please check your security camera footage from the last week.
Many systems delete footage after 7 days, so time is critical.

The sighting was reported on NE 114th Lane, Kirkland.

Please share this info with community groups in:

Kirkland

Redmond

Woodinville

Bothell

Bellevue

Most of the flyers have only been distributed around Arlington — so people farther south may not even be aware of the case.

What to Do
If you think you see Jonathan:

Call 911 immediately

Take a picture or video

Try to engage him: Ask if he’s Jonathan. He should be able to self-identify.

Please continue circulating his flyer — both online and in real-world locations. It’s also the cover photo of the family’s Facebook page. I’ll link that in the description box below.

Final Thoughts
The possible sighting was caught on a home security camera. In the image, the person appears to be holding his arms close to his body. His posture and movement look familiar to the family. They’re still reviewing it.

We don’t know if he’s intentionally turning away from the camera or just walking naturally, but it’s promising.

If you’re in Kirkland or any nearby areas — please be alert. Check your cameras. Talk to neighbors. Share the flyer.

Why Jonathan would be out there alone — we don’t know. But if he is, we need to bring him home.
