Joel Embiid’s injury woes have reached a critical point, and now the Philadelphia 76ers superstar is exploring every possible avenue to get his knee back to full strength.

According to Chandler Parsons on Run It Back TV, Embiid has even considered traveling to Germany for the same Kobe Bryant-inspired knee treatment that has gained notoriety in the NBA over the years.

“There are the main doctors—there’s Neal ElAttrache, who’s right next door actually, the big-time knee doctor.”

“There’s Riley Williams in New York… So most teams and agents will have you get a second and third opinion, and if it’s Joel, a fourth or fifth. And I’ve talked to Joel about this—he’s thought about going to Germany and doing the Kobe shots.”

“So there are different methods and ways to manage your pain, but when it comes down to this, and it’s something that’s surgically required to fix it, you have to do it. I think punting this season took a little bit of time, but seeing where they are now, this is the right move.”

The “Kobe treatment” Parsons referred to is a blood-spinning procedure known as Regenokine therapy. It’s a non-surgical method where the patient’s blood is extracted, processed to reduce inflammation, and reinjected into the knee to promote healing.

Kobe Bryant famously underwent this treatment in Germany during the latter stages of his career, extending his playing days and improving his ability to play through injuries.

Other athletes, including Peyton Manning and Alex Rodriguez, have also sought similar treatments.

For Embiid, these alternative treatments have become a serious consideration because traditional pain management methods have not worked.

After playing just 19 games this season, the former MVP has been shut down due to persistent knee pain. Even Embiid himself admitted he no longer trusts his knees, and it became evident that playing through the pain was no longer a viable option.

Initially, the 76ers wanted Embiid to manage the injury and push through the season, but that plan backfired. He was clearly struggling, and his mobility was visibly affected.

Now, both Embiid and the team are discussing surgery, which could sideline him anywhere from six months to a year, depending on the severity of the procedure.

Some reports indicate that a radical knee surgery is being considered, and if that happens, it could mean the Sixers might have to adjust their long-term plans.

The situation has gotten so dire that Philadelphia is even weighing the possibility of medical retirement for Embiid.

If doctors determine that his injuries are career-ending, the Sixers could file for a medical retirement exemption, which would wipe his contract off the books and give them cap relief.

However, that’s an extreme scenario, and one the organization would likely prefer to avoid unless absolutely necessary.

The Sixers, who once looked like title contenders with Embiid and Paul George leading the way, now find themselves in a precarious position.

They’ve fallen in the standings, and without their franchise player, their championship window is in serious jeopardy. Embiid’s future in the NBA is now uncertain, and all eyes will be on what decision he makes regarding his knee treatment.

Whether it’s undergoing surgery or seeking innovative solutions like the Kobe-inspired treatment in Germany, the next few months will be crucial for Embiid and the future of the Sixers.
