After leading the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA Finals last year, expectations were high for Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic this year.

But mere weeks after Doncic was controversially traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, Irving is now facing a long time away from basketball as he recovers from a major injury.

Five days ago, Kyrie tore his ACL in the first quarter of a game against the Sacramento Kings.

He was almost immediately ruled out for the remainder of the season, ending his campaign at 50 games played with an average of 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.

Taking to X on Saturday, Kyrie finally broke his silence on the injury. He offered his thanks to god and maintained his “unwavering faith” through his latest setback.

“Thank you GOD. I understand that my calling on earth is bigger than basketball and it’s not just about me. This moment was for all of my brothers and sisters who also put GOD first.

I know how powerfully unified we are through our unwavering faith. I am that I am,” Kyrie wrote.

Mavericks fans are praying for his quick recovery and strong return to the game whenever he’s able:

“Looking forward to your strong return,” one user replied.

“You can look at any situation in a negative or positive way. You can believe something is happening to you or FOR YOU.

As for the Dallas Mavericks, they’ll be lucky to even make the Play-In round, let alone return to the Finals this year.

After the highs of 2024, the year 2025 may truly go down as one of the worst years for being a Mavericks fan in the history of the entire franchise.
