2025 has been an up and down year for the Ball family. LiAngelo has started a budding rap career, earning a record deal with a viral first single.
Lonzo has returned to the court for the Chicago Bulls after a lengthy absence due to injury.
Unfortunately, the family has also had to deal with some adversity. LaMelo was the leading fan-vote getter for the NBA All-Star Game, but failed to make the team after not being chosen in the coach and player vote.
The family received some more unfortunate news this week when Lavar Ball revealed that he needed to have his foot amputated due to some serious health problems.
In typical Ball fashion, the patriarch of the family isn’t letting this situation get him down. In a Cameo video recorded for a fan on TikTok, Ball was his usual jovial self, and even made a joke about his new situation.
After saying that he knows everyone “heard what happened” to his foot, but finished his message by saying “you can take my foot, but you can’t take” the account he was shouting out in the Cameo video.
Ball also appeared to be in good spirits while meeting with his youngest son LaMelo, who came to visit him before the his Charlotte Hornets played the Lakers earlier this week.

With all three of his sons flourishing in their respective careers, Ball has a lot to be happy about. He’s facing some serious adversity after losing his foot, but it sounds like he’s got a great support system around him.
The Ball brothers have consistently emphasized how important family is to one another, and they’ve stood by each other throughout their careers – in basketball and otherwise.
LaVar’s amputation is a situation that could have easily gotten him down, but it looks like he’s finding ways to deal with it while maintaining a positive attitude.
We’ll see if he releases any more social media posts in the coming days, and if his other sons make appearances by his side to show their own support.
LaMelo and the Hornets will take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday, while Lonzo and the Bulls are set to face the Phoenix Suns.
