A lot of this is hyperbole, but please bear with us.

On Tuesday, the Warriors drubbed an opponent by 20+ points for a third consecutive game. The last time that happened? The 2021-22 season, which culminated with a championship in the Bay Area.
Last Sunday, Stephen Curry hit his “night night” celebration prematurely in the third quarter (he usually saves it for the fourth). The last time that happened? Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals when Curry caught a heater in the third quarter against Boston.
Here’s another eerie one: Curry won this year’s All-Star Game MVP, just like he did in 2022 before capturing his fourth title.
Two more for the road, one of which is unrelated to basketball.
The Warriors began the 2024-25 season with a 5-0 record in the preseason, just like they did in 2021-22.
Rapper Kendrick Lamar last released an album in 2022.
Are these just a series of coincidences? Or are the stars truly aligning for Golden State? Draymond Green has already guaranteed a title and double-downed on his statement recently.
“I believe we got the pieces to do it,” Green said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. “And like I said, I know what that looks and feels like.
There’s a lot of people like ‘How is he going to say that?’ that ain’t done it…. You’ve got all these people out here talking about what I said and how I’m going to do it… I’ve done it. Over and over and over and over. I know what it looks and feels like.”
It’s easy to dismiss Green’s claim. Some may even call him delusional, given the might of teams such as the Celtics, Cavaliers and Thunder.
That said, who are we to question the heart of a champion? Green, Curry and Steve Kerr know exactly what it takes to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy, and their confidence bodes well for the postseason.
If they fall flat on their faces (most likely), it provides riveting fodder for analysts and fans alike. And if they defy the odds, they’d gloat until the cows come home, becoming villains that the NBA sorely needs.
Either way, the Warriors have injected new life into the final leg of the 2024-25 season. The playoffs can’t come soon enough!
