Patrick Beverley and the Milwaukee Bucks are facing legal action from some Pacers fans who allege they incurred losses due to an on-court incident last year.
Patrick Beverley and the Milwaukee Bucks are set for a reunion, but not in the way Beverley would have hoped.
Joe Schroeder of Fox 59 is reporting that two Indiana Pacers fans are suing Patrick Beverley, the Milwaukee Bucks, and former Bucks assistant coach Josh Oppenheimer for damages sustained from Beverley’s ball-tossing incident during the NBA playoffs last year.
“Two Indiana Pacers fans have sued the Milwaukee Bucks and Patrick Beverley after the point guard threw a ball into the stands of Gainbridge Fieldhouse during an NBA playoff game last year in downtown Indy.”

“In a lawsuit filed last Friday in Marion County Superior Court, two Pacers fans claim they experienced medical expenses, mental anguish, humiliation, and lost wages after an incident during the 2024 matchup between Indiana and Milwaukee.”
“The lawsuit names Beverley, the Bucks organization, and former Milwaukee assistant coach Josh Oppenheimer as defendants.
The suit stems from an incident between Beverley and the two fans during the fourth quarter of a Bucks’ 120-98 playoff loss to the Pacers on May 2, 2024.”
The incident occurred during Game 6 of the Pacers’ first-round series against the Bucks. Patrick Beverley threw a ball into the crowd at fans in frustration after the Bucks lost the game.
Beverley had another bizarre incident after the game, where he told a female reporter she couldn’t interview him if she hadn’t subscribed to his podcast channel on YouTube.
According to Shams Charania, Beverley apparently threw the ball at fans after they mocked him by yelling ‘Cancun on three!’ at him as he was walking off the court.
The guard would apologize for throwing the ball at fans in the aftermath of the game, but it appears the aggrieved parties are seeking damages from Beverley and the Bucks.
The NBA suspended Beverley for four games for his actions, but he is yet to serve this suspension, as he left the NBA to go play for Hapoel Tel Aviv just a few months later.
The former Bucks star is now done with Tel Aviv and is looking to mount a return to the NBA. There is no word on whether this upcoming legal battle will affect his ability to find a team this season or next season. But this legal battle could have far grander implications for him.
This is perhaps the moment Beverley’s zany and erratic behavior catches up with him, as the eclectic guard has a history of doing stupid things on the court.
He would routinely get into fights, scuffles, and arguments with other players while talking trash. But he crossed the line when he attacked fans.
It is going to be interesting to see how the Bucks factor into this legal battle, as they did not sanction the incident from Beverley, but also did not announce or confirm any punishment for the guard as he was out of contract with them in the summer.
The most likely outcome here is that Beverley and the Bucks will try and reach an out-of-court settlement with the suing parties in order to avoid a drawn-out legal battle.
