Jake Evans’ name continues to circulate on the trade market, and Pierre LeBrun has just announced an important development.

Given the season Jake Evans is having in 2024-2025, it is indeed expected that several teams will show interest in the 28-year-old center, who will become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

According to renowned insider Pierre LeBrun, the Devils are one of the teams interested in Jake Evans’ services, as they would like to bring in reinforcements for the playoffs.

Jake Evans is highly sought after by the New Jersey Devils, reveals Pierre LeBrun

This is at least what he stated during a recent episode of the Radar podcast, which can be found on the Athletic Commission’s YouTube page.

«Among the teams with Evans’ name on their list, there are the New Jersey Devils.

According to my information, they would like to acquire a center for their third or fourth line.

[He’s] a right-handed shot capable of winning face-offs and killing penalties.»

However, even though the Devils represent a good opportunity for Kent Hughes to complete a trade, the recent successes of the Canadiens might encourage the organization to keep Jake Evans’ services and offer him a new contract at the end of the season.

A new contract for Jake Evans with the Canadiens? Only under one condition

But the insider indeed stated that we shouldn’t expect the Canadiens’ general manager to offer the moon to his center to keep him in Montreal.

He will do so if it’s at the right price.

If Evans ever asks for too much and is unable to reach an agreement with the Habs, then a trade to the New Jersey Devils could indeed become a real possibility.

Jake Evans, who is earning 1.9 million dollars this year, is having by far the best season of his career, and we can expect that he will at least double his annual salary with his next contract.
