A statement from Ashley St. Clair — who claims to have a 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 with Elon Musk — has sparked debate in Japan about celebrity privacy, reproductive ethics and the billionaire’s growing number of 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren around the world.

According to an article in The New York Times on May 30, St. Clair said Musk had confided that he had fathered 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren with many women in many different places, including a Japanese pop singer. However, the identity of this woman was not disclosed.

“He acts like it’s a good deed. He really believes that these people should have his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren,” St. Clair said in the article. She also said that Musk is concerned about the declining 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 rate and is willing to donate sperm to anyone in need, according to SCMP .

These claims have not been verified. Tesla’s CEO has not commented.

However, the news quickly spread in Japan, becoming a hot topic on social media. Mainstream media and commentators have avoided naming any individuals.

“It’s embarrassing to delve into this,” comedian Hiroiki Ariyoshi said on the radio show on the evening of June 1, to laughter from his co-hosts. “If you go by age, there are only a few people who are diva-type pop singers. I think Musk is just showing off. Maybe he’s a secret fan of Japanese idols.”

On social media, public opinion was more mixed and fierce. Some people laughed, but many were deeply concerned about the billionaire’s views on reproduction.

“It’s all disgusting. But what’s more dangerous is that so many people have inherited his genes and personality,” wrote one reader on the Nikkan Sports website .

“Musk has the mindset of a harem dweller. The power of such a person can surpass an entire country. Measures must be taken to stop him immediately,” commented a netizen.

Another person commented: “Giving 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 is not a tool. Children 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 must be raised properly.”

Many comments accused Musk of treating his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren as “props” or “products of the rich man’s hobbies.” Some people were concerned that after Musk’s death, there would be property disputes between his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren because they were siblings from different mothers.

To date, Musk has been confirmed to have fathered at least 14 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren with four women. However, the actual number may not stop there.

He has repeatedly expressed concern about the decline in the global population, once saying at a conference in Saudi Arabia: “If people don’t reproduce, humanity will disappear. Any policy at that time is meaningless.”
