The announcement comes after the conclusion of the first season, which drew over 1.3 million viewers across television and streaming, according to Channel 9. The series, hosted by Rodger Corser, features 81 contestants competing in timed trivia duels for the chance to win a $200,000 prize.

Key Points

Channel 9 has opened applications for season two of The Floor, with filming planned in Europe.
The first season’s finale saw engineer Patrick Neasey claim the $200,000 prize after defeating 80 competitors.
The quiz show recorded an average audience exceeding 1.3 million viewers across broadcast and streaming.

Participants in the upcoming series must be aged 18 or over and able to travel for up to a week for filming at a European location. The eligibility criteria extend to Australian citizens living locally or residing in Europe or the United Kingdom.

Season one concluded with Patrick Neasey, a 33-year-old engineer, being crowned the inaugural champion. Neasey outlasted 80 other competitors, prevailing in a series of head-to-head duels and ultimately securing the $200,000 prize in the final round. According to Channel 9, the finale was marked by “a relentless battle of knowledge, strategy and stamina”.

“The Floor is a high-energy mix of strategy and trivia, taken to a whole new level. With 81 contestants and $200,000 at stake, it’s intense, unpredictable, and guaranteed to keep you hooked,” host Rodger Corser said.

The format, described by the network as a “global sensation”, places contestants on individual tiles representing their chosen fields of knowledge. Players aim to expand their territory by defeating rivals in trivia duels, with each win offering the chance to seize more ground and edge closer to the cash prize.

Season one’s cast featured participants from a wide range of backgrounds, including teachers, tradespeople, nurses, entrepreneurs and artists. The network claims this diversity, along with varied trivia categories, has contributed to the show’s appeal among viewers.
