The rumor had been circulating for a while, but it has just been officially confirmed by David Savard in a press conference.

It’s over for him.

He will retire as soon as the Montreal Canadiens’ playoff run comes to an end, and that’s not all, he also revealed that he informed Kent Hughes and the Canadiens’ management of his decision several weeks ago.

The signs reported were true.

David Savard just announced his NHL retirement, but he also confirmed he’ll play through the Canadiens’ entire playoff run

What an amazing career for “Papy Savy!”

Another interesting point mentioned: Savard could very well stay around the Montreal Canadiens and land some sort of job within the organization, much like Paul Byron did.

A true professional, David Savard!

“Montreal Canadiens defenceman David Savard announces that he will retire at the end of the playoffs.

A great career for a serviceable defenceman. Makes the Canadiens playoff berth even sweeter for the NHL vet.”
