Strictly Come Dancing viewers were stunned as the show’s judges gave karaoke a go.

Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke swapped their paddles for mics on Saturday night’s show (October 18) to warble a few bars of It Must Have Been Love by Roxette.

Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and his professional partner Karen Hauer had picked the 90s hit to perform their Rumba to, and after host Tess Daly revealed it was a top karaoke track, the judges decided to show off their singing skills.

However, their rendition of the hit didn’t hit the right note for all fans of the BBC show, with one viewer posting a message on X teasing: “This ain’t Strictly Come Karaoke.”

Tess introduced the performance by telling viewers: “Yes, performing next is Harry and Karen, and tonight they are dancing to an iconic power ballad, which is not only perfect for a Rumba, but apparently also some people go to karaoke track!”

The cameras then cut to the panel, where the judges were all on their feet for the little sing-song.

Several viewers were unimpressed, with one posting on X (formerly Twitter): “Please never let the judges sing again thank you x.”

“Judges’ karaoke was … interesting …” admitted another, as someone else joked: “When the wine hits and there’s karaoke on at the bar.”

“That was the worst celebrity karaoke since they decided to a celebrity version of The X Factor,” said someone else.

Another viewer posted: “Was watching Strictly Come Dancing but the judges did that daft karaoke skit so I have put on a horror film to make me happy again.”

However, not everyone agreed, with some giving the performance the thumbs up.

“Judges doing karaoke every week please,” pleaded one fan.

Harry and Karen did the Rumba to the track

So far two celebrities have already been eliminated from the competition. Former Apprentice contestant Thomas Skinner was the first to go, with the star – who was paired with pro Amy Dowden – handed his marching orders after the first week of competition.

The second star to go was presenter Ross King. He and his dance partner Jowita Pryzstal found themselves in the dance-off after their Paso Doble performance to the Thunderbirds Are Go theme tune, and the judges ended up sending them home.
