Just over a week after Neighbours officially wrapped production for the second time in the show’s history, one of its most prominent stars has announced their next project. Jackie Woodburne, who played Susan Kennedy on the soap for over 30 years, is set to star in a new four-part miniseries, Imposter.

The drama is created by Neighbours executive producer Jason Herbison, and produced by Fremantle Australia for Channel 5 in the UK. Production is set to begin in Victoria later this year, although no local broadcast has been announced.

The series, which centres around a tense family drama at a picturesque seaside hotel, will also star Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh.

Imposter will mark Jackie’s first TV role outside of Neighbours since 1994 when she appeared in an episode of the Australian drama Law of the Land. The 69-year-old Irish-born actress previously appeared in The Young DoctorsCop ShopA Country PracticeSons and Daughters, and Prisoner.

Neighbours filmed its final episode earlier this month, with the show’s social media accounts sharing a gallery of snaps of the cast and crew on Ramsay Street.

“Today marks the final day of production on our beloved Neighbours. It’s with a heavy heart that our incredible cast and crew wrap for the final time,” they wrote. “As sad as this day may be, we can’t wait for you to see the amazing storylines that are about to unfold over the coming six months. Together we have been, and always will be, the perfect blend.”

The long-running series shut down for the second time after Amazon withdrew their support and Channel 10 chose not to solely finance the series. The final episode is set to air at the end of the year, although it likely won’t be as star-studded as the 2023 finale.
