The player who created the most buzz for the Montreal Canadiens last night, surpassing even Ivan Demidov, was undoubtedly goaltender Jakub Dobes.

The rookie netminder was absolutely sensational, and honestly, he’s the one and only reason the Habs managed to snag a crucial point in the standings.

Personally, I love seeing the competitive side of players, and that’s exactly what we saw from Dobes immediately after Mitch Marner’s game-winning goal.

Dobes didn’t hold back in showing his frustration, he pulled a Jordan Binnington move, and his stick paid the price.

See the footage:

I love seeing that!

Let’s just say it was really about time the attendant opened the darn door for Dobes.

Jakub Dobes is a True Winner

Even though he had just delivered one of the best performances of his life, Dobes was extremely frustrated to have let the win and that second point in the standings slip away.

You want to see that from your goalie, it shows he’s a true competitor.

A Potential Playoff Role for Jakub Dobes with the Montreal Canadiens?

I don’t want to “overreact,” but I’m seriously wondering if Dobes could play a role for the Montreal Canadiens in the playoffs.

Samuel Montembeault will undoubtedly get the start for Game One (if the playoffs are officially clinched, of course), but I wonder, if there’s a loss or multiple losses, whether Dobes could be thrown into the mix.

After all, he’s clearly shown he has the ability to steal games and rise to the occasion.

It’s definitely a possibility to keep in mind over the next 2-3 weeks.
