Just before the game against the Montreal Canadiens last week, the Philadelphia Flyers announced the firing of John Tortorella. Honestly, it’s not a huge shock when you look at the team’s results.

The Flyers are 26th in the NHL with a really bad record and are going to miss the playoffs for a fifth straight season.

What everyone is talking about now is who will become the next head coach in Philly.

One name keeps coming up more and more and it’s current Laval Rocket coach, Pascal Vincent.

I think if that happens, it would be a huge loss for the Canadiens organization.

Pascal Vincent as head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers to replace John Tortorella?

Pascal Vincent is doing an outstanding job with the Laval Rocket this season. The team is first in the entire AHL with an incredible record.

He’s changed the locker room atmosphere, brought back a winning culture, and his players are responding really well to his style.

He’s the kind of coach you love having in your organization to develop young players.

Journalist Tom Lapointe suggested that Daniel Brière, the Flyers’ GM, should absolutely consider him and I agree.

“I don’t know who Daniel Brière will choose to replace the last coach, John Tortorella. The Philadelphia Flyers have been out of playoff contention for a good ten days now.

But in his search, I hope Brière includes Pascal Vincent on his shortlist. Vincent is the AHL’s Coach of the Year with the Laval Rocket. There’s been a winning atmosphere ever since he stepped into the Laval locker room.

So Daniel, you owe it to yourself to interview Vincent, although if it works out, it would be a major loss for the Canadiens organization.”

– Journalist Tom Lapointe believes, as he says Brière should try to lure Vincent out of Laval.

If the Flyers want to do a real rebuild, they need a guy like Pascal Vincent. He knows how to coach young players well, knows how to build a team, and brings winning mentality.

I understand that coaches don’t stay in the minors forever, but if Pascal Vincent leaves, the Habs will need to replace him with someone solid.. Because what he’s doing in Laval right now is really impressive!
