The Block’s Britt and Taz faced disaster on Thursday’s episode as the pair struggled with a compliance issue that led them to an expensive demolition and rebuild.

Foreman Dan informed the couple that their outdoor chimney did not meet the specifications since it was too short.

But building up the chimney’s height would make it structurally unsound, so the tradies were brought in to knock it down.

In its place will be a two-metre flue, which will require cladding, leading to additional time and expense.

Adding to Britt and Taz’s frustration is that the brick chimney was only completed in the last week, after the original plans were submitted months ago.

‘We can see the finish line, but it keeps moving away from us’, Taz said as he surveyed the site.

‘We won’t stop, but it’s getting to me a bit.’

There was joy elsewhere in the show, as Block favourites Steph and Gian Ottavio returned to stage a gender reveal alongside a baby shower for Emma and Ben, who are also expecting.

The Block winners, Steph and Gian, from 2023, announced back in May that they were expecting their first child.

Looking deliriously happy, the pair were joined by the Blockheads in Daylesford for a party with a twist.

After Steph popped a balloon full of pink confetti – revealing that the couple are expecting a girl – Emma led the guests in a pole dancing session, which included lessons and an impromptu ‘competition’.

It comes after Blockheads Han and Can’s cash struggles continued on this week.

As the teams headed into Backyard Week on Wednesday, the fiery WA couple discovered that they were behind schedule, with only $50,000 to complete the job.

To make matters worse, the crisis created a personal clash between the couple.

At one point, pressure over plans for their Cabana saw Han retreat into the team caravan, unwilling to discuss details with Foreman Dan.

But Can’s plan to talk things over with her partner in their van went south when Han announced she was bringing in her dad, Lee, for an expensive render job.

‘If you don’t trust me… and you don’t trust me with my dad, then that’s on you,’ Han told Can angrily.

Later, Can is interviewed on-site and expressed her frustration over the direction the build on House 2 has taken.

‘I’m a bit tired of budget talk, I think everyone on House 2 is.’

She added: ‘It’s really tricky to understand how to do the whole yard for $50,000.’

Can then confessed she ‘regretted’ getting the wine cabinet and altering the floor plan.

On the couch, Han tried to soothe things over after what she called Can’s ‘mini-meltdown’.

‘You don’t understand… you’re not a builder… she’s overreacting,’ Han said.

Earlier this month, host Scott Cam had advised the pair that they were $6,000 over budget.

This has the duo facing the likelihood that they won’t be able to complete both their landscaping and the shed they have dubbed their ‘art studio’.
