EXCLUSIVE: Han and Can spill on the cast dynamic amid this week’s ‘cheating scandal’.

It was initially described as “the happiest Block on earth”, but this year’s season of The Block took a dramatic turn in Tuesday night’s episode when one team was accused of ‘cheating’. House 4’s Sonny and Alicia called out House 2’s Han and Can for copying a distinct feature in their Hepburn Spa challenge room, resulting in a tense confrontation, plenty of tears, and a very awkward apology.
This isn’t the only drama brewing on the reality show, with House 1’s Emma and Ben growing suspicious of House 5’s Robby and Mat after discovering their ‘secret’ plan to build an underground wine cellar. Han and Can were also shown skipping a team dinner last week, with their co-stars saying that they “need to enjoy the process a bit more” and not keep to themselves as much.
While viewers might assume the contestants are no longer on speaking terms after filming the series, which is exactly what happened in previous years, Han and Can insist that the cast are closer than ever before.
“It really did become a little Block family,” they tell Yahoo Lifestyle. “Of course, there were some tense moments, big personalities, high stakes, and zero sleep will do that, but behind the scenes, there was so much laughter, support, and fun that didn’t always make it to air. We all went through something so unique together, and that bond is really strong.”
The couple went on to reveal that they celebrated the unique experience with their co-stars after filming wrapped with “an Airbnb stay and matching tattoos”.
“The friendships, the growth, and the memories are things we’ll carry forever,” they add.

Why didn’t Han and Can spend more time with their co-stars during filming?
Following the week 3 room reveal, the contestants were shown hanging out in Sonny and Alicia’s caravan for a team dinner, with Han and Can notably absent. Fans later took to social media to criticise the couple for isolating themselves and being antisocial, with some people even questioning whether it was a “strategic” decision to avoid their co-stars.
Han and Can insist that although it looks like they were keeping to themselves during filming, the reality was “very different”.
“In those early weeks, we were running such a small team, just the two of us, one chippy Ben, and two plasterers. We didn’t have a builder like other teams, so Han had to step into the builder role, managing trades, approvals, and an endless stream of decisions while also recovering from being unwell,” Can details.
‘If we had our time again…’
Can explains that their days were “flat-out” with filming, supply runs, trades, and challenges, so their evenings became “the only window to regroup and plan ahead”.
“It was never about avoiding the others; it was purely survival mode. Once we found our rhythm and had a bit more support, we could relax a bit and genuinely loved being social and spending time with everyone,” she says.
“If we had our time again, we would have had more trades from the start to enable us to do this sooner!”
