The Block has been slammed after it reached its dramatic conclusion on Sunday, with viewers pointing out a huge problem with the final auction.

The Block viewers have blasted show producers after two of the five homes failed to sell during Sunday’s “disappointing” finale.

All five homes went under the hammer, in the rural Victorian town of Daylesford, during the conclusion of the Channel Nine series, with Western Australian couple Britt and Taz taking the top sale of the day.

Block veteran Danny Wallis and a host of other bidders turned out for the auction, but this wasn’t enough to stop two couples walking away heartbroken without a sale.

The auction got off to a great start with Britt and Taz selling their house for a whopping $3.4million, netting the couple $520,000 due to a reserve of $2.99million and a $100,000 bonus prize.

Robby and Mat’s property saw them walk away with $109,000 profit after a $3.09million sale while Sonny and Alicia sold their home for $3.06million – $120,000 over their reserve of $2.94million.

Both Emma and Ben, and Han and Can finished the series without making any profit after their properties failed to sell.

Han and Can admitted they felt “physically sick” after realising all of their hard work amounted to nothing.

The Block viewers hit out at show producers, blaming the reserve prices and auction location for the disappointing results.

“Reserves way too high. Producers should hang their heads in shame. #theblock,” one viewer fumed.

“They’ve got to stop the country locations, they don’t sell. Time to get back to the city. Feeling awful for the teams, it doesn’t look good #TheBlock,” another vented.

“Once again, #TheBlock producers tank contestants and the show with over inflated reserves. Time to make this show worth watching and competing in! Get back to affordable renos and realistic reserves. Right now contestants and viewers both lose,” someone else said.

“I don’t know about you guys but I feel like that finale was disappointing. Especially after 12 weeks of watching #TheBlock,” a fourth added.

Another viewer pointed out the guide prices for similar comparable houses in the area might help to explain why two of the couples walked away with nothing.

The Block houses are all four-bedroom, three-bathroom, with floorplans of around 2300sqm and reserves of almost $3million.

However, a four-bedroom, three-bathroom, 2,100sqm floorplan, impressively designed house five minutes’ drive away from the properties featured in the series is on the market with an asking price of $2,495,000 – $2,695,000.

Serial bidder Adrian Portelli, who bought all five houses at auction last year and was noticeably absent from this year’s final day, wasted no time taking a swipe at The Block, posting a selfie with a string of “crickets” emojis.

He later uploaded The Block’s logo, scribbled out with Seven’s new rival show My Reno Rules written on top.
