Farmer Wants A Wife fans have called out the show after a “hard to watch” moment between Clarette and Farmer Thomas. During Tuesday night’s episode, Clarette confronted Thomas over several comments he made about her during the “honesty dinner” in front of all four of his ladies.

Thomas was asked to list his favourite and least favourite traits of all the girls, and he didn’t hesitate for one moment to say his least favourite thing about Clarette was her “jealousy”. He was also asked what strengths he and Clarette have other than physical attraction, and he failed to come up with anything.

Clarette told the cameras, “Dinner was really interesting this evening, a couple of questions came up where Thomas’ answers didn’t particularly make me too happy.”

“I really needed him to say something positive about me, about our relationship, so that’s why I just wanted to speak to him now, rather than stew over it.”

Speaking to Thomas, she questioned why he would call her jealous, and he fumbled, saying he should have said that, yes, she’s jealous, but it means that she cares about him ultimately.

“That’s not really a positive trait,” she said.

“It was meant to say, like, it means that you actually care, and probably, it’s a good trait to have, like, if you don’t get jealous, you don’t care,” he said nervously.

She pushed, “So why wouldn’t you just say caring then, not jealousy, like it’s two completely different things.”

Clarette then asked for examples of when she’s been jealous, but he, possibly sensing this would just get him in more trouble, refused to give her one.

She continued, saying he’s kissed multiple people and she’s told him that she “understands” that this is what is going to happen on the show, adding, “I can not like something, but that doesn’t mean I’m jealous, it means I don’t like it. I don’t appreciate you calling me jealous in front of all the other girls, they must think I’m saying stuff behind their backs. Do you know what I mean? It doesn’t look good for me.”

“Sorry I’ve put you in that situation,” Thomas said quietly.

“That wasn’t the only thing I wasn’t happy about,” she told him, and he laughed, saying he knew she was referencing him being unable to say what else they had beyond attraction.

“It’s obviously coming across to others that you just are physically attracted to me without any substance, I would’ve liked more from you to back us as a couple,” she said.

“I need you to have my back, I need you to stand up for me when you’re asked about what you like about me. That doesn’t take away what you like about other people, but what do you like about me?”

She added that she needed more from him than just saying that he likes to spend time with her.

“I just feel like a bit of an idiot to be honest,” Clarette added.

Thomas told the cameras he “wasn’t super proud” of how he spoke about Clarette at the dinner, saying, “I didn’t word it properly and that really let her down.”

The interaction ended with Thomas telling her he was “catching feelings for her” and that when they hang out “time stops”.

When she forgave him, they shared a few kisses and appeared to be happy to move on.

Fans slam Clarette’s behaviour

While Clarette and Thomas got through the moment, fans were left a bit stunned by it, with one person writing on Facebook, “That scene was painful to watch. The producers have dropped the ball this year.”

“Can’t believe he is taking the aggression she is dishing him,” another surprised viewer said.

“He is forever apologising to her,” a third added.

“Thomas is a deer in the headlights,” someone else agreed.

“Sad to watch,” another said.

Others described the moment as “cringeworthy” and suggested Clarette was “high maintenance”.

Some defended Clarette, with one viewer writing, “He admits he’s not good with words. There are clearly things he likes, he just doesn’t know how to articulate this… I see through the bad edit on her.

“She’s plenty nice enough and honest as hell. She’s being authentic. Plenty of other women on the show displaying a bit of jealousy that you aren’t all hating. It’s unfair.”
